There was an interview earlier with a chap (cant remember his name) but a former high ranking security official at the time of the supposed interference.

He made some interesting and at times critical comments about the panel and the way it done things.

Now, of course he would do that, but then again he may be correct, who knows.

Unfortunately, I cant remember his name or title, nor find the interview. I also doubt it will be shown again.

In short he explained that the government did indeed make efforts to ensure that Russia couldn't interfere with the actual voting process or hack into the results etc.

What it didn't do was bother about the social media influence that some 50000 bogus accounts may have had, nor the potential influence of Sputnik and Russia today.

There will always be some debate about just how much influence this may have had, but, considering that Scotland voted to stay as part of the uk despite supposed destabilising efforts on these platforms to ensure an independence vote, I'm far from convinced they had much of an effect on either outcome at all.

How many actually watch RT, moreover no one on here would take as gospel anything from Twitter or Facebook would they.

Oddest bit is sitting on it for so long. Should have just released it.

I think it was one of David Cameron's advisors at the time. Very much on the attack on BBC News tonight.

This is a report that can’t find any evidence of Russian interference in the Referendum because, wait for it, ‘they didn’t look hard enough’  according to hysterical Remainers, who were pinning there hopes on the slightest, tiniest shred of bullshit they could link to Putin and then reverse Brexit in the nick of time, but sadly ‘no smoking gun’

The BBC are getting a head of steam up to try and create another ‘Cummingsgate’

Another non story

Do you still watch John Cravens news round or does it stretch you? 😬

Should I be worried about what somebody posted on social media, that I took as the gospel truth, because everything on the internet is true, and decided my vote based on that? Brexit. The General Election. Or can I sleep easy now thinking that I’m a grown adult? Or should I worry that we have a Prime Minister called Boris? Boris!!! Fucking Boris. It’s all so clear now.

This is the crux of the matter, whatever the Russians been up to I’m convinced it’s a waste of time and effort, Corbyn being shit meant Boris was always going to win, now if Boris is shit then next election Starmer will get in, whatever the Russians do.

It’s a none story... suppose it makes the losers feel better as it gives them pesky Putin to blame rather than themselves.

I must have missed something. I was listening to a UK political commentator at lunchtime and he was saying that we don't need Russia interfering with anything when we already have the twin problem of Islamic and extreme right wing terrorism to deal with in the UK.

Other than that crazy fucking lunatic who stabbed that Labour politician, have there been incidents I haven't heard of? The nazi's blowing up buses/trains or beheading servicemen or going on mass stabbing sprees in major cities?

I didn't hear him mention once the extreme left/anarchists causing mayhem etc.

Is it a case of having to shoehorn 'extreme right' into everything these days to try to neutralise (they are already demonised) the other end of the horseshoe as the left is completely fucked and rejected by the electorate anyway? Just wondering.

Puts SNP in an awkward situation too. Anything to bash the UK government, except the same tactics were used to support their campaign too. And still, they lost.

Russian interference seems pointless it doesn’t work and therefore why have an enquiry, yes keep monitoring in case that changes, but FFS it’s a non story for me.

If you think Twitter, Facebook and the internet in general have no influence on people's political decisions then you live in a Disney film.

They are more or less the only places millions of voters get their info these days. The type of people we all sneer at on here a lot of the time - thick, yokel types who shouldn't have a vote etc..

How many of us post a Tweet to reinforce a point we're making? Then 2 posts later scream that we shouldn't beleive anything on the internet?

The Russians may be playing games, but Putin loves to mix it up however he can. See the middle east & North Korea for details.

Anyway, we should be beaming with pride that a country the size of Russia feel it necessary to upset little old Britain.

The issue is that they haven’t been monitoring it. At all.

Couldn’t give a fuck it seems. That’s the story

You might need to type that in a bigger font so the message gets through

What message are you trying to get through, what would of happened different without the interference? I’m all ears.

The ISC is made up of cross party MP's.

I would assume any who are not Tory on that committee would love to find something to stick the boot in to Boris and co, but they found fuck all, its got fuck all to do with patriotism.

Nope. You’re totally misrepresenting the facts.

They found fuck all was even being done to even look to see if there was fuck all to find.

Why are you pretending the report said otherwise?

I’d prefer that the intelligence services don’t waste to much time tracking social media campaigns and spend more time tracking dangerous Russian agents with deadly chemicals.

"The Issue is that they haven't been monitoring it at all."

Given the Russians are well known for it, you'd think our government would want to keep an eye on it.

We send jets up to watch their bombers when they skirt along UK airspace. Why not do the same in cyberspace?

To reiterate, the message that isn't getting through here is "they haven't been monitoring it at all"

Mad how the uber patriots on here seem to be quite happy to let Russian intelligence agencies crack on unchallenged for years.

And what a brilliant job they've done there too.

Everyone knows MI5 is a massive den of queers anyway.

I’m not sure what monitoring it achieves.  The campaigns weren’t successful, nothing that happened wouldn’t of happened if it was monitored, what’s the point?
