Now Jim, when I mentioned "rattle" you immediately thought of "rattler" a colloquial name for a train, and suggested Crewe Alexandra, a place inextricably linked to trains. Well it was a good idea but

And the corners filled with seats at the upper tier level.

If we were to spend on major stadium improvements it should be on safe standing before an extra row of seats.

absolutely - but I'd always just wondered if it was like one of Leigh Whites "myths" or was actually true

What was the truth behind the idea that another row of seats could have gone in/go in at the very front?

I recall the seating contractor had an order for 27,500 seats, always made me smile when the attendance board used to put up 25,000 exactly on big games

Fascinating picture

Some of the crowd on the roof look like they have turned round to wave at the UFO hovering behind them .

it pops up about 10 mins into this history of BP video on YouTube when talking about our record attendance v City

so guess it's 1933

Absolutely true. The front row in every stand is currently row D to allow space for the new rows in front.

In 96/97 my old man was security guard at chrotex (factory on CNR), and I basically sat for ages in his gatehouse watching the ground being built on his adjustable cctv camera thing

Security guard at the Reebok was a scouser always on the nick... he was eyeing up my (pedigree) dog until I took him to one side and told him to fk off or else

Undies Friday teaser.
