Southend (A)

After all the complaining about Saturday’s game being so close to tonight’s, I bet it can’t come soon enough now!

3-1 win and flying.

  • Williams has some engine on him, he runs all day long, proper worker in the middle of the park, exactly what we missed earlier in the season. Not the prettiest player, won’t score a lot of goals,

MOTM today Williams; won everything and was unlucky to get booked as he won the ball

  • The players in this division are pros, so they are very good players. However they are at this level for a reason. Most teams play to a system and when allowed to play look decent. But take them out o

I thought Barnsley were the team immediately below us, not Burton.

You're right. It was 2 from three & Burton ended up 23rd.

Impossible to catch. It hit the bar.

It interested me to note that while the centre half ran screaming to the linesman to presumably claim the ball had gone out, the keeper who was under it the whole time, just booted the ball away in frustration.

Also interesting that their manager also mentioned the ball may have gone out of play from his excellent vantage point on the half way line.

Aye.  If I'd been the keeper I  would have claimed it had gone out, so I didnt look as much of a berk doing what he ended up doing.  It was Crellinesque was that

So the lino could spot that our effort off the line didn’t cross but that the ball went up in the air and he was unable to keep up with play and failed to spot it going out of play.

Hope Southend stop in the EFL (will probably be saved if promotion from the National League is scrapped), we seem to be their bogy team in recent years.  And you cant say that about many teams. Since the Beevers last minute winner, we've come from behind to beat them last season 3-2 when Campbell was moaning, finally got our 1st Saturday home win of the season against them and its still our biggest win, and now a flukey late winner.   Looking forward to playing them again.

Saw something where the Southend manager says they lost to a 'fluke'. Keeps happening doesn't it?

He should tell his defenders not to block shots then, so that our players can kick it straight in.
