Next morning, I put my two Bolton scarves on the back of my Lambretta TV175, went to the newsagents and bought a copy of every paper they had and proudly rode through Little Hulton at 7am in the morning to work at Metal Box. I was 16.

Yep. I mentioned all 3 in the Freddie Hill thread the other day. A strange day for me but it’s when I realised that life, especially football, moves on.

Think Chelsea rained on our parade in the 4th round.  1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge but they hammered us in the replay.

Before my time but I often heard it spoken of in reverential terms.  That paper fanzine in the mid 80s (Wanderers Worldwide?) did a great piece on it once.  Some bloke swearing that you could hear the roar in Queens Park.

Dunno about that as i was only about 5 but the FA cup game v Newcastle a couple of years later, you could deffo hear the roar on Haslem Park and that was further from Burnden than Queens park I'd reckon.

With favourable winds you could probably hear the Burnden roar anywhere in Bolton. Certainly I remember hearing it in Harwood.

I remember when Chorley beat wolves at burnden, not a massive crowd on, but still heard Chorley scoring in the furthest fringes of Breightmet. 

Fantastic night and a great atmosphere, I remember singing oh Gary oh Gary Gary Jones all day at school the following day.

Was absolutely skint , someone at work suggested going early to the ground & volunteer for programme selling this being a guarantee of entry into the ground.

Went down straight from work & duly received a bag full of programmes to sell 

Got in Manny rd North , only time I ever watched a game from there ,fantastic night given our Div 3 status.
