I see them a bit like Wagner these days, you have to wade through all the dated crappy stuff to get to the good bits, but they are good when you arrive

Zappa was one of the most acomplished musicians in pop music, and beefheart was simply a creative genius.

I like a cracking 3 minute pop song as much as the next person, but you don't want to eat McDonald's all the time. You need different things for the listening palate. 

In the same way I'm not jumping out of bed on a monday morning and slamming Trout Mask Replica on.

This morning its Young, Loud and Snotty by Dead Boys because I'd forgotten what a great album is is and I've got a pitch at 3pm and its been powereing my on since 6 to get my draft budgets finished.
