Ha, Halliwell is one of the fee places in Bolton I've never lived, nor would.

Anyway, sounds like special is actually a scallop.

It can be either, or a potato fritter if you think you're posh.

If you buy one or two you are still scum of the earth, don't kid yourselves otherwise.

It says " special " on the menu boards of Charlie's Wingates Chippy and Chippy on Market St.

And the now defunct Bolton Supper Bar .( did the best fish barm)

Temple Rd. Halliwell rates, Smithills prices.

I used to fish at Temple Springs, I say 'fish' it was more getting bored after ten minutes and ruining it for all the serious anglers by chucking rocks in.

It was always divisive which one to choose when in a group on a piss-up, the green one on the left or the burgundy one on the right. The green one let you put your own salt and vinegar on, t'other you could eat off a plate in a little recess.

Loved the supper bar

Wasnt there another directly opposite

No different; taste wise, to a normal (Hollands, I think) pudding.

This one was completely different. Sort of a flat shape rather than the cup shaped ones, and the pastry was slightly different. Proper steak in it too.

Indeed there was. Can’t remember what it was called though.

Me? I’ve no idea!

hey, Leyther_Matt, what’s a special? Asking for a friend.

Potato scallop is the Sunday name, I think. You might know it as a ‘smack’ from your Hindley days, Micky.

The burgundy one - sure it was called a convoluted version of Supper Bar.

They should've called both 'I've forgoed a pint for a chip barm and shared fare for a taxi home'.

Queining up for ages at Bradshawgate taxis freezing your tits off - then sharing one with randomers who were going 'the same way' - LL and GL are not the fucking 'same way'.

It was also last chance saloon the queue at Bradshawgate taxis, if you'd gone to the chippies the night was already written off as a bad job.

Hindley days? Fucking hell I worked there for maybe a year in total. Rarely ate at chippies and certainly wouldn’t sit right going into a random food emporium asking for a portion of smack.

More than one day in a year so the plural use was right enough in my book 😊

It is indeed a ridiculous name though. In keeping with Wiganers, I suppose.

Woah - Fish Barm , before heading into Scamps .

Or heading back to Swan Cellar Bar.

I also miss Northern bread. No point asking for a chip barm down here.

Heathens.

Eating is cheating, you only eat when the drinkin' is done. In a feeble attempt to prevent a hangover. Those days of a hangover lasting 'til a bacon barm and pint of vimto at noon Sunday - now it's hell until Wednesday.

Eating is cheating - you know that -, food of any sort is to soak up the booze. It kind of works - except for the fact it normally used to end in fisticuffs. with randomers in Indians or chippies for some trivial reasons.

Cold pizza with garlic sauce and cold fries for breakfast. Then you're talking.

I must source some takeaway soon so I can fall asleep during EFL on Quest then drunkenly eat It cold Hass' style.

I had a pot noodle but I didn't get up until 2pm so I'm saying that's fine.

Lazy southern ponce, I bet you can't even get a Warbies to make a butty.

It's good working from home you can have a wank and watch Countdown post-wank.

Salt and pepper and a drop of soy above the sachet is necessary these days - those fuckers have decided extremely high levels of sodium in our junk food isn't good for us, wtf do they know? Rick Stein lobs handfuls of salt into his £366 dishes.

Edit: soy and salt and pepper in the pot noodle - not down your japs before your pre-Countdown wank.

Babbys Yed , in this neck of the woods .

Don't go all posh on us.

Not many places do the traditional ones now . Hollands are closet you get , but contain kidney as well as stewed beef steak. Instead of mince

Don't forget my 2 rag puddings this week....

Plus my tubs.... x4....

I'm hankering after one now - but they've probably been in the steamer since Tuesday. Plus I got fish and chips earlier and I think they're somewhere. I had a power nap.

It's Saturday. Kids with their mum, shitty weather, busy week next week, that's the recipe for a long lie in.

Then spured on by my pot noodle did a good five hours of cleaning. Decent Saturday all told.

I hope you salted it, and put the foil lid back down to allow it to cook for ten minutes or so, then added the soy sauce, living in that London or whereabouts you probably had to make a pot noodle butty on foccacia or sourdough rye. Warbies is banned within a 150 mile radius of your manor.

No bread this time I'm afraid.

You should come to Bromley, it's about as London as Bolton.

The streets are paved with Warbies Toastie
