I think one of the arguments for leaving the ECHR is that it would remove an incentive - the ability to earn the right to stay by appealing to the articles within it (most likely Articles 3 and 8)

One of your earlier posts suggests you are of the view that it's worthy of investigating the incentives behind people choosing to travel here

Remove an incentive yes, if that would be enough fine, but will it still stop them coming because isn't there are huge proportion of asylum seekers that do get granted asylum once they get here?

Even removing the right to stay when would it be safe for those given asylum status to return them to home countries such as Afghanistan, Somalia, the African Sahal, etc, whence they came from?

They may no longer have the right to remain but they still could be here for years and years and their kids too until their home country is deemed save to return to - if you see what I mean?

I might be wrong I know nothing much in depth about the subject but there is clearly something attracting them to the UK than remaining in France, Italy etc.

Work out what it is - do we provide housing, education, free medical care, benefits, etc in excess of other EU countries (I don't know) but find out whatever it is and reduce the incentive to or below that of other EU countries and in theory (anyway) it should reduce the demand to come here.

That's my logic anyway.

Just be careful of what you wish for. I do think the ECHR needs updating or making more clear, however don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.
