Wigan White Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 Given Sam's kitty of ?10-?15 million which players would you like to see him bring in and who would they replace??? I for one would like to see Giles Barnes in a Bolton shirt. J Lloyd Samuell (On a free), and a new centre back as Ben Haim is off to some big club (not sure who though). I would love to see a lot more players in and the like of pedersen booted out but i cant see it happening
Horwich Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 Giles Barnes or any other young unproven player will NEVER play for Bolton while Sam is in charge. As he recently said, Why spend ?8m+ on a player who has never played in the prem, When you can spend ?400,000 on a International Defender??????????

Horwich Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 I'd like to see: Koevermars (AZ) Ashton (WH) Baines (Wigan) For a start. A right Back 2 or 3 midfielders.

Casino Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 more chance of him playing for us, than you granted, it's slim on both accounts
Yossi Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 more chance of him playing for us, than you granted, it's slim on both accounts I'm 99% certain Ashton will be a WHU player next August. I'm 100% certain he won't be a Bolton player.
Zico Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 I'm 99% certain Ashton will be a WHU player next August. I'm 100% certain he won't be a Bolton player. I'd also be pretty certain if someone offered say ?5m then it would be accepted mainly to recoup some of the ?20m you spunked in january

Who wants that cripple anyway, half a good season in the PL means f?ck all. I'd sooner have Anelka, Diouf & Davies up front. I'd nick Reo-Coker off you, but you can keep that convict on ?80k a week (still cracks me up )
Yossi Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 I'd also be pretty certain if someone offered say ?5m then it would be accepted mainly to recoup some of the ?20m you spunked in january The only way we will sell him is if we receive an offer higher than we paid for him. I suspect a fair bit higher too. It'd take ?10m and I don't expect anyone to offer that. Hence, he'll be a WHU player next season.
Yossi Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 Who wants that cripple anyway, half a good season in the PL means f?ck all. Exactly. Ashton has played only 9 league games in the top flight, and hasn't kicked a ball in anger for 12 months. I can't see anyone paying big money on him, because it would be a gamble. Nevertheless, he is ragging good. I'd sooner have Anelka, Diouf & Davies up front. Fair enough. I wouldn't, but then I don't support your lot. I'd nick Reo-Coker off you, but you can keep that convict on ?80k a week (still cracks me up ) Madness! You can have NRC! 'That convict' is playing very very well.
Horwich Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 Maybe if you had Anelka, Diouf and Davies, You wouldnt be on the way to the fizzy pop league.
Yossi Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 Maybe if you had Anelka, Diouf and Davies, You wouldnt be on the way to the fizzy pop league. Of course we'd still be in the same position. The whole AP injunction thing would still have happened. Snap with Ferdinand. NRC would still have been the same, etc etc etc.

And to think some of our lot would have him in front of Davies, Anelka and Diouf. Unbelievable. Leighton Baines would be a good un, I'd like to see him here. Expensive though. We missed out big time on Stephen Warnock. Song from Arsenal (currently Charlton) if they would let him go. Even on loan. Looks a good player, can pick a pass from midfield. Jagielka from Sheff U has looked capable in this division, good solid lad, and he's versatile. Volz from Fulham for competition at right back.

Mounts Kipper Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 every player we sign this season needs to be maximum 27, have power and pace and played consistently at a high level, that is the only criteria for me, it will not be easy but that is why we pay him big money.
Sweep Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 Exactly. Ashton has played only 9 league games in the top flight, and hasn't kicked a ball in anger for 12 months. I can't see anyone paying big money on him, because it would be a gamble.I think he's played a few more than 9 games in the top flight. As far as I can tell, he's played 11 for West Ham and he played 16 for Norwich. IN total that makes 27 games in the top flight, with a total of 10 goals (3 for West Ham, 7 for Norwich)

Thanks for the correction

Jagielka, 3 times sheff utd player of the year, not actually sure where his best position is... i actually think volz is a fairly decent fullback, competition for hunt at least. samuel would up the numbers and is free. still like us to have a stab at sidwell, cant see any of the top 4 wanting him, so weve as good a chance as any. but of all the players would could be available, i'd love us to push the boat out for darren bent... but maybe im expecting a little too much....

You've picked a few wingers - can't see Sam changing tactics anytime soon though...
