Worsley White #1 Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 I'd give topi obadaye and david gbemi a go just to chuckle at RV trying to pronounce their names David GBemi was in the year below me at school ... I always thought he was shite ... right greedy bastard
bolty58 Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 (edited) Back to the thread title - WHUJOHN11 (ignoring the bit about Sams war chest and all that). Edited April 26, 2007 by bolty58
MickyD Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 ermm, the style under greaves in the first division was grim and we were relegated relegated, remember that word from in the dark and distant days pre sam europe was a long, long way away in those days, and not just because there wasn't a tunnel or ryanair thompson, who was one of the last of a dying breed - now dead - didn't even play when we were promoted the style serves its purpose for the first time since biffer was a lad, we've been in the top league for 6 straight years.....is it six, i dunno, its way more than the 1 or 2 i'd ever known You make it sound as though I'd written that I'd love to be entertained and then get relegated as a consequence of that. It is far from what I said! My point was that, when Thompson and Morgan were down each wing, we played entertaining games. BSA was a part of that and got his head on many a good cross; often out-jumping International goalkeepers. Get some old-style wingers in.
HoldensHairdo Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Luke Young Geremi Phil Jagielka Jamie Cureton Ivan Helguera J'Lloyd Samuel Nigel Reo-Coker Rob Green Silvestre
Yossi Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Luke YoungGeremi Phil Jagielka Jamie Cureton Ivan Helguera J'Lloyd Samuel Nigel Reo-Coker Rob Green Silvestre Young is a crock and Charlton will bite the hands off any club that is willing to buy him. J Lloyd Samuel is a done deal. Coker you can have. No one is supposed to have noticed that Green is ragging class. Ssh don't tell anyone else.
HoldensHairdo Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Green is class and won't stay at the Famous GSE if they go down !
enzo gambaro Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Jamie Cureton? Seriously? What about Javier Chevanton? 26 year old Uruguayan at Sevilla. Doesn't seem to play much, but previously bagged 49 goals in 57 games for Danubio (?), 47 in 88 for Lecce, and 20 in 50 for Monaco. I saw a fair bit of him when he was in Italy, and a few games when he was in France. I thought he was older than that, but he's definitely a good un.

The fella Chevanton is a nice tidy player but I think BSA would be put off bringing in another S.American. I'd like to see us go after quality players who still have some legs left in them. This means paying decent money for them however. So i wouldn't be surprised if Sam spent his money on a three/four of established names, circa ?3m and then wheel and deal to bring in enough cover players. The worrying thing is though we need anywhere in the region of 5-8 new players. With a budget of ?15m this will be tough.

And surely Allardyce won't let the Jardel episode stand in the way of signing players from South America.

jeep Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 And the Borg!! The Borg was from Central America, not South
jimmyjoojar Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 The Borg was from Central America, not South Fairy muff, but you get my point!
enzo gambaro Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 The Borg was from Central America, not South Oi! Do your own fishing!
bolty58 Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 The Borg is from North America. There is no such fooking continent as Central America
no balls Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 The Borg is from North America. There is no such fooking continent as Central America You're not wrong, it is indeed classed as North America, which , were I Mexican (which I'm not) would piss me off no end! Then again Russia and Israel are classed as Europe when it comes to football so maybe it's just different geographical rules when it comes to the beautiful game
Smiley Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 (edited) The countries from South of Mexico and north of Columbia are classed as being in Central America. However similar to 'The Far East', this is not a continent, just a reference for a group of countries. Did I tell you I had been to Costa Rica? Anyway, back to the real plot - we've missed out on Jonathan Woodgate. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ugh/6595395.stm Edited April 26, 2007 by Smiley

mickadoo Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 For that much money, it's too much of a risk. Could be a good signing though.
