There'll Be Some Folk On Here.............
nomore352 replied to Traf's topic in Terrace Talk - 'Classics'
Who bought the majority of the players? Even so the players were made to look shite because of the way they were told to play. They were much better last week when we played two wide men & looked very positive but Megson lost his bottle again ,pushed everyone back behind the ball & it is just not good enough. Bruce really showed the way today. -

What on earth was the korean lad doing. He tried to beat men ,go forward, run past people & shoot-He mustn't have understood one word Megson said to him!! -

At least Megson thought we were unlucky & that we recovered well in the second half. The problem today was purely down to the usual negative tactics. As before no Gardener no flair no movement no goals! He is 100% to blame for the rubbish served up today. -
What Do You Make Of This Quote From Megson
nomore352 replied to kent_white's topic in Terrace Talk - 'Classics'
After watching the Hibs game I was pleasantly surprised with the style of play. We generally played 4 4 2 using Rick G & Taylor as attacking wide men. Passing was much better & long balls reduced. The problem is that now we must take a positive attitude into every league game. That is where Megson failed miserably last season. We now have a team capable of pushing for a top 8 place but GM has to believe it! I will reserved further judgement until after we have stuffed Rafa's men. -
The "20" fans have again produced an unsavoury reaction from a fuming Megson. When Rob Styles went over to him to caution him for his moaning several thousand fans jokingly started to chant "off off!" This infuriated Megson similar to the Blackburn episode. He then turned to the fans behind him & muttered effin W**rs in front of many children. Megson seems to think that it is only the fans within his earshot that criticise him & that the totally negative tactics are everyone else's fault but his! He has stooped to making complaints to the police against fans who do not abuse him but merely comment on the defensive tactics. This man needs a sense of humour . I think all fans have been extremely tolerant this season but credit where it is due because he has managed to keep us up despite playing hardly any football!

It wasn't even in the penalty box either!

Megson has made a fatal mistake in slagging off his fans. He should have asked himself why did I go from hero to villain in 45 minutes? Instead of blaming himself he tried to make out that in some way it was the fault of the fans. After an excellent first half he decided to sit back as he always does. Blackburn were no better our players were not tired but because of his tactics he blew it! Every fan I spoke to could not understand why Nolan was brought back into the side or why he was kept on for the whole match when having an appalling game & openly arguing with Taylor after trying to blame him for something which was his own fault! Secondly he continues to overlook our only positive midfielder Gardner the one player who could have instantly removed the pressure off our defence. The final whistle saved us from another negative decision when at the death he tried to bring on Shittu & play 3 centre backs even though that particular move had just cost us 2 points against Man Utd! He constantly undoes his good work with poor tactical decisions & team selection based on favouritism. Bolton fans are pretty patient (compare with Liverpool & Benitez last night) so when things hit a low like last night the manager must realise there is something wrong and he is being paid to sort out .
-
Don't worry Nolan's doing extra training to try & finally get fit. Personally I thought Basham had a better game than Big Kev has had for 3 seasons!\\\\\\\\\\\\\\but we still need a play maker & a postive manager.
-
That's ok but he didn't score the penalty! Up to now Megson is doing a reasonable job but he must move us up a level. He has bought good players but he must have the confidence to attack teams. Even if we had Messi according to our manager he would be playing alongside Nolan & who knows it may be a great partnership. But it is wrong to think that a supporters opinion cannot be on a par with that of a manager etc as there are some pretty intelligent folk on these sites which is more than can be said for some players & managers! After 48 years of watching BW I am able to make a pretty good assessment of a player's ability as are the majority of fans.
-
Even they realised how Bolton would play! But in fairness I feel with Elmander's ability we woulld have won that match & let us hope he is not badly injured & can take penalties! Any news on his injury?
-
No They are the ones that attract fans to watch entertaining attractive football, Sadly it is not only Bolton with this problem as the National is just as bad, hence the empty seats at the Reebok & Wembley.
-
Jimmy Bullard was awesome for Fulham but when Megson states he could never envisage picking a team without Nolan then I feel we have big problems & it is pointless buying any more midfielders until he gets real. Without Elmander we are clueless at opening defences & flare players like Gardner & Riga must play.
-
Al Habsi should keep his place then he may consider signing a long term contract . Jussi should stay on the bench because if he asks for a move we can demand a good fee. Jussi whilst being a great keeper was not consistent last season & must prove himself to be better than Ali. Use your nouse Mego & sign them both up then you have a choice between the best keepers in the prem.

This is a great fixture to indicate Megson's approach to this season. If he sits back & defends with a negative attitude as per last season then we will lose. If he is positive & realises that this is a game we must win then we will know he has learned his lesson! This is a must win match we are much better than Stoke so let's set our stall out to put them in their place before they do it to us! We desperately need to sign some quality ball players otherwise it could be a kick & rush season ! We need players with Diouf's confidence on the ball.

Megson Rejects Call For Attacking Approach
nomore352 replied to Danny G's topic in Terrace Talk - 'Classics'
The problems lie firstly with Megson's negative approach & secondly the inability of our midfield to convert 4 5 1 into 4 3 3 by working hard enough to get from box to box. We used to do it but now there simply isn't the will or managerial instruction to do it. We have to shoot & get forward as a unit if we are to have any hope of suvival! -
When Gardner was down injured Campo came over to the dugout & I shouted to him to drive the team forward & stop sitting too deep. Campo acknowledge me giving a thumbs up to me confirming the fans view that negative play gets you nowhere and he clearly disapproved of Mr Megative's tactics-When will he learn?? How naive to have 11 players in the box for a corner when City had 3 players just waiting on the edge of he box to rifle it back in as against Liverpool!!
-
Surely Megson can see that when we get men forward we look like scoring goals. the last time we attacked was against Reading & lo & behold we won!! Stop being negative Megson -the tactics are your responsibility -end of !
-
I would be happy if we had a couple of shots on target -only 9 men in the box at a corner with at least one up the pitch ! That way I might think that Megson is capable of learning from HIS mistakes!!
-
Nolan chased the ref for 50 yards at blistering speed to claim for a penalty -it would have been easier just to stick a boot out & put the rebound in the net. He does not have to plead for our support we always give it no matter how bad things get. What we need is 100% committment from every player as shown by Wigan!!

Nows The Time To Get Everything Off Your Chests

Eleven men back for a corner against 10 men shows just how clueless Megson is! His negativity has spread throughout the club but really I must conclude that Anelka is just a selfish individual who if he had any loyalty should have stayed until the end of the season. Megson has sold us down the river in every competition showing absolutely no ambition or fight whatsoever! Players earning ?20000+ should be able to play twice a week it may help them to get to know each other cos today they were devoid of any attacking ideas--a total disgrace & insult to all the fans! Worth a punt on doing the double over United though---or do we never learn! -
Just think ,even GMR's jack Dearden couldn't name a single match that we have won with 3 centre halves & 2 wingbacks! It leaves exposed areas in the fullback positions & pulls the centre backs out to the flanks leaving a complete mess in the middle! Only a few clubs have had limited success with that bygone system -we had no success! We need to be positive & play for 90 mins not 15 as against liverpool & others. We beat Reading easily with 2 strikers & a positive contribution from our midfield players--Sit back & we've no chance!
-
Kevin Davies is probably the best target man in the division. The problem is that now the players don't seem to have the will fitness or instruction to get into the box & join him as was the case when Sam had us. We can't pass the ball forward because we have 10 men behind the ball & no-one makes a positive run! Nolan Diouf Campo & even Taylor have little pace & can only perform for 15 minutes. Megson has to be 100% positive & if his current midfielders can't get around the pitch with energy then try Andranik & Cohen. It showed how much we missed Guthrie's legs & how he has been shielding Nolan with his sheer lack of pace & stamina. I feel sorry for Davies -I wish the rest gave the same commitment!! Unfortunately Campo is our only playpaker & we will need to offer cover for him. At the end of the day Anelka should still be here & with 20 goals under his belt Chelsea would have given ?20m for him & we would have been safe.

After years of re laying the Reebok pitch it should not go without mention that currently I feel ours is the best in the Prem. I understand it is interlaced with nylon & UV lights used overnight aid the growth of the grass. It took long enough but well done to the ground staff! All we need to do now is put the ball on it!

A few years ago I attended a ground safety conference in Bradford and the Man utd safety advisor thanked BWFC fans for the way in which they totally respected the minutes silence. I was so moved by this accolade that I just stood up & addressed the conference & thanked him for his comments. I then went on to heap praise on MU fans for not only staying silent for a minute but for a good 75 minutes right up to when they equalised!! The whole conferece then p**ssed thei sides!
-
Let's not forget -even Jack Dearden can't remember Bolton ever playing 3-5-2 for 90 mins and actually winning a match! Hence my name.
