  1. Got it for the first time this morning. First impressions are OK but still think it is overpriced (??1.00 weekdays/??1.20 weekends).Thought they would have started off undercutting The Post by a bit more. Anyway to save you all ??1.20 their top tipsters 'The Four Horsemen' go for (fixed odds):- Lincoln - Gentleman's Deal 3.50 Redcar - Quito 2.10 Redcar - Davenport 2.55 Newbury - Jacks Craic I suppose if its going to be a success they need to find a tipster/tipsters to rival Pricewise early on
  2. Pissed up reflections - The Dark Days were the best days. Peterborough away (lost 1-0) OB suggested we leave the Kings Arms (i think) as it was the locals 'Lions Den' - did we leave , did we fcuk Exeter away - them singing 'your not famous anymore' - struck a chord Southend away - seaside top piss up Darlington away - travel short notice on the news that we had signed ex England tricky winger Peter Barnes - complete stump but at the time was a huge signing Wolves/Scarborough away - stuffed but non stop singing/passion Ending the London Jinx at Brentford I wish all the younger posters had experienced the 80's early 90's to really appreciate where the club is now
  3. I think Phil Brown also scored a cracking og diving header away at Reading. Not sure about the year.
  4. What about - 'Dead Beat Descendant' by The Fall
  5. Tony green? From Bullseye? I'm sure The Mozzer could relate to one of Tony's catchphrases -"you get nothing in this game for 2 in a bed" I'll agree he is a marketing genius - been around the music scene long before The Smiths. Manipulated his fans, the press with snippets of info or questionable lyrics (sexuality/racism) to ensure he gets on the cover of the NME. Having said that "The Queen is Dead" is a shoe in for one of my top 5 albums. "I know its over" would be my No.1 suicide song
  6. Following on from the Suicide Bands Thread. If you did decide to take a dive from the top of the multi storey what song would you want played at your final send off? I think i'd have "Here's where the story ends" by The Sundays
  7. I see he's in the nets to keep the Chelski out tomorrow. Got me thinking - Keepers I've seen in a Wanderers shirt :- Best - Branny (pen save against Reading) Shocker - Simon Farnworth (any cross)
  8. 18 years i think you'll find Thanks tomy Your quite correct #-o It wasn't the friendliest tournament I've ever been to - we didn't see eye to eye with the locals, the Turkish locals, the German O.B,our O.B,our press, the rest of Europe and the Americans at the Frankfurt army base. My heads not been right since.
  9. Was based there for Euro 88. Can't believe that was almost 16 years ago. Must have changed but I I'll bet it's still full of Turks with big knives.
  10. Pontins at Prestatyn - claim to fame is that I had a piss in the pool where they filmed 'Holiday on the Buses'
  11. i remember when we won 10 out of 40 odd int 3rd division. happy ragging days 46 goals in 46 games (14 in our last 23). 14000 on the ground at the Satsumas away - Super George and Tony 'Ale Can' Caldwell up front - The Aldershot Team Coach - Happy fcuking days indeed You can stick your match first / ??35 a ticket / Soccer AM - bring back the 80's only with European qualification for the Freight Rover winners or runners up
  12. U.N. I think calling one of them a 'pie knob' might have touched a nerve
  13. STEPS Ron Atkinson Rodney Marsh
  14. 'Kings of the Wild Frontier' - relieved to say I didn't have an 'Ant Wardrobe' and have never put on lippy in my life
  15. Freezing me nuts off at Coventry away in the Cup (can't remember the year) to hear that Mark Came was playing up front #-o - you had to laugh O:) I think that day we had a ticker tape welcome to rival anything the Argies could muster in 78 ! Colchester away in tomorrow's draw . Bring it on :D/
  16. I'm a Dingle #-o I DEMAND A RECOUNT
  17. Sweet Green. King Bill now and then - remeber seeing Nicky Brookman in there once pre-match but he only had a half and he was on the bench
  18. Have to agree - but it can't help being sat next to Graham 'i'm not gay' Le Saux
  19. Everyones a winner - 'Boy About Town' just sneaks top spot
  20. I complained to Abbey direct. Took a while but just got my compensation cheque through without having to use the Ombudsman. Abbey are definately on the back foot at the moment - don't delay !
  21. did we go there in the 80's..... i can't remember having a pie, or a beer , or a piss, having a coin on the back of my head,or having a fight . away fans were banned We might have been banned but a simple postal application secured one of their membership cards. I was still getting CUFC offers 3 years later! I'm sure one one of our lads got on the pitch at half time and 'presented' them with a mini Christmas tree - but that just might have been one of my 1980's dreams.
  22. Highbury , Anfield and Goodison without doubt but always a fond memory for late , late equaliser at Halifax and that 'one on all on' pitch invasion.
  23. 1.Ian Lavender (as above) 2.Babs Windsor (Carry on curse) 3.Eddie Large (Little and Large curse) 4.Keith Harris (Orville and Cuddles curse) 5.Salman Rushdie (Satanic curses)
  24. Robbie Savage at Wrexham 87/88- the turning point. Don't remember paying to get in either.
