  1. Broken clock and all that. .. but there is a scenario where there’s a good chance he plays Wednesday. Fresh as well. Then he will have contributed in 4 games towards us getting to a World Cup Final - more than a justified selection IMO.
  2. 🤣 👏 You see I’m quite happy to laugh at myself and accept my happy clappy foibles. You should give it a go and learn to accept you are a strange fish yourself. All the build up to the Play-offs and final about what SS should do, then after one of our best results and experiences ever as a BWFC fan, nothing, absolutely nothing about how good it was, how SS got it right… .. your first post was days later.. on the transfer thread about who he should be buying/keeping 🤣
  3. Mr Motivator 😂 Get him in the changing rooms before the game.
  4. You’re the one who claimed it was needless, it’s not for me to outline why we do. There could be hundreds of valid reason why this appointment has been made; experience of the championship, an older head, coaching talents which are different to what we have. It could be none of them, all of them and/or plenty more. I’m quite happy to claim I don’t have the knowledge to the reasons behind the appointment, you on the other hand are quick to say it’s needless without knowing fuck all as to why it might be needless. As has been pointed out to you by plenty of posters other than me, it’s not that you are criticised for having an opinion, it’s your initial assuredness and conviction of being adamant that your negative opinion is right and the club/manager/owners are wrong. You always revert back to I’m not happy for anything to be questioned by the club/manager and opinion isn’t allowed. Incorrect, this forum allows and promotes that and I’m all for it, but I’ll consistently call you and others out, who repeatedly think they know more than the experts, but whom quite regularly get it wrong. I was going to wait till England get to the final, but I’ll call it now, your assuredness of how crap Tuchel is will go down as a classic should we win on Wednesday. In fact it looks pretty ropey even now 😊👍
  5. You’re off again 😂 How do you know it’s needless? If SS wants it and Fergal and Sharon have sanctioned it, they won’t have done this on a whim, or to the detriment of the club, or at the expense of the players budget. Do you know what Tutte and the other B team staff who have now gone were on? Do you know if his wage is more than they can afford or more than what their budget is for coaching staff? Do you heck, you’re just off on one of your you think you know more those in charge rants again.
  6. So good that O’Reilly, Guehi, Rice and especially Bellingham are available for Wednesday. Hopefully Rice will benefit from a full recovery from his bug and only playing half yesterday. If James is fit and fresh that could be a bonus at right back. Start with Saka who also had a rest in the first half. Some good energy to come on later from the bench. With that solid spine from Pickford, Konsa/Guehi, Anderson/Rice/Bellingham and Kane, I reckon we can really trouble the Argies. I see we are slight favourites - that surprised me, but well worth the tag I reckon.
  7. You’ve called the game fairly and accurately there. I can’t disagree with the point you make about the balance of play. But I suspect it’s a rarity that the XG, shots on target, total shots, possession and big chances all go to the team that were under the pump for bigger spells. But while I think there’s merit in both yours and Tuchel’s appraisal, I’m sticking to my POV that we handled those periods of pressure really well, and to me, as the stats suggest, still looked dangerous, at times, when in possession.
  8. Yeh absolutely. Another gut-wrencher that one.
  9. Maybe this? A bit of context and detail may have helped, I’d never heard of him! 🤣
  10. 🤷‍♂️
  11. Third World Cup Semi in my lifetime. Would love us to get over the line in this one. I’ve grown to love TT’s approach to the game and management. Accepting that we weren’t good enough and need to be better is the mentality of a manager who is here to win this. It was an absolute battle. But despite the under-par performance, there were some real positives. The stats actually show we edged the game. There were a few key moments which could have shifted the game away from the opposition. For us, Jed Spence’s penalty shouldn’t have been overturned IMO. All the subs really made a positive contribution. And a final word for Bellingham - what a player, what a talent. I was so happy he didn’t get booked. I honestly think he can have a bigger impact on the semi than Messi. Bring on the Argies! 2002 was a small shift on the dial for 1986 redemption, this would complete the turn and set up a show piece World Cup Final on the 19th July. Come on England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 👏

Does he start Saturday? Tend to think it’s a bit of hyperbole after his cameo. But that said, considering some felt he shouldn’t have even been anywhere near the squad, if he does nothing else this World Cup he’s justified his spot IMO. He was perfect for that situation.

Them high balls coming in look like missiles coming down from space 😂
  14. Well the English sporting feel good factor continues today. Magical result for Fery. Wildcard through to quarter finals. Stuff dreams are made of. Well done fella 👏👏

Just searched it up. He was in the provisional squad but got injured in pre-tournament game. And well done re the miss @Tonge moor green jacket During the famous 0-0 draw between Italy and England on October 11, 1997, at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Ian Wright nearly scored the winning goal in stoppage time. He danced around Italy goalkeeper Angelo Peruzzi, but from a tight angle, his shot cannoned off the post.

I’m a bit sketchy too TBH. Wright sticks out but can’t remember exactly why! I might be misremembering too, but didn’t he miss out on the 98 squad with Gascoigne and folk were surprised?!

Remember that. Wrighty played well didn’t he? Watched it in Lostock Arms. Fine result and performance, but I don’t think it comes close to last night.

In terms of statement wins in a big game over a 90 minute + performance where does that rank? I’m looking beyond the moments - Belgium in 1990, the iconic goals - Gazza 96, Beckham 2004 etc Actually putting in a proper performance that is respected world wide. And I’m putting 66 to one side because I wasn’t around and it pretty obviously stands alone! Beating Germany 5-1 and knocking 4 past Holland in Euro 96 are standouts for me. But because of the drama, the adversity, the setting and the pure determination to see out that win, that’s up there as one of the best ever for me. Means nowt like if we lose Saturday 😂

  23. Where’s the link on this. I’ve searched on BEN threads and Iles on Twitter and can’t see owt?
  24. Best studio team are on ITV. Both Pougatch and Woods are great, especially when it’s with Keane, Neville and Wright. Their best comms pairing is Champion and Mcoist. BBC studio is a bit pants. I do like Mowbray and Shearer. Combined ITV are ahead for me.
  25. True. 5-0 England then and 3 Mexicans sent off 😂
