Probably due to the fact in the main events in Ireland would have little effect in general, whereas events in UK usually do along with the whole “ mother land “ thing from the past . plus, my fellow countrymen would be from Breightmet 😁, parents are Irish, spent a lot of time there including a good spell living over there , very proud of my connection with the place, a obsession with its history and sport especially , but the green rolling hills and rivers of Garstang ave is my home, like the lad with Ukrainian heritage earlier in the thread, I’m equally proud and defensive of my connection to both places . find myself being called an Irish cunt here and an English cunt there . well balanced 😁

I didn’t say it’s changed for “normal” people I said exactly that it wouldn’t / couldn’t change at the very start and that’s why it would be difficult. can’t get away from the fact that it is now an uncontrolled border between the EU and the UK . That’s what’s changed about it. It was never an eu border before. it’s a moot point really , it is what it is, it was mainly in response to Bolty picking up on the demo in Dublin and how the UK has an open border with a place with loads of refugees which is the opposite of what Brexit was about ( for some)

It’s now a UK border with the EU so it’s changed . we were told we would come out of the EU and protect our borders we aren’t doing/ can’t do there it was always the case I agree, it was mentioned on here earlier on in this thread , asking how this border would be controlled / protected given its unique nature , loads , said we could protect and control it by technology. Loads of immigrants from all over could literally walk into the Uk if they chose to. granted, they’d struggle to get to Britain and if we are honest , that’s all anyone was thinking about at the time or concerned about, but the fact is people at the moment can go from the EU to the UK unhindered and there’s an uncontrolled border despite one of the reasons of leaving was to control our borders .

If you go to the local Tesco in some areas, you are shopping in the UK even though you live in the EU. So you can buy UK stuff and bring it into the EU quite easily if are an immigrant in the EU you can get into the UK quite easy if you wanted. that basically sums up what I was saying

Been going on for years mate, just the same as here. I mentioned it at the start of this Brexit discussion as a risk of no borders when people were saying all migrants come via Dover etc , there’s towns full over in the west , a bus ride takes them into the UK , in fact, some could go into the Uk in some places by going to a different Tesco .

It does and that’s fine until the uk reduces its standards and imports chlorine washed chicken for example which then ends up in the eu. that’s an example of one risk that needs addressing with that. it’s a bit simplistic to just use it as a “ solution”

Spot on. Of all the parties, only Sinn Fein used the term “brexit means borders “ people in NI voted to remain and was a lot of up front concern around it there, but in general it wasn’t even mentioned in the remain campaign and warnings of it ignored.

Genuine question as I may have mis interpreted what you mean here, but what opportunity to sort NI was Brexit going to achieve? what needed sorting in NI that was only achievable by Brexit? or do you mean sorting it out once left and the whole border issue that Brexit caused?

We’re in a shit position now. The conservatives are partly to blame Brexit is partly to blame Putin attacking Ukraine is partly to blame The pandemic is partly to blame global financial conditions are partly to blame . All of those ,apart from two, affect the rest of the countries showing better performance than us I’m not really political aligned, middle of the road, but, I look at the two things unique to us from the list of events and draw my conclusions from that. Summary, we’d be better off without Brexit and the conservatives, or in fairness, we would be better off with both being managed better than they have been too.

Probably was technically, but didn’t really get raised as there were no safeguarding concerns on the team and the location was public . was kids from one team filming another and their coach using it to influence his training was the unbelievable part. the only thing it really lead to was the give us a clue “ it’s a film” style hand motions on celebrating the goals against them

it happens regularly, you wouldn’t believe it. Happened to my lad once in the BBDFL. local rivals, well lots of lads in the same school on two different teams. Due to play each other in the cup, they were a section above. not only did they come to our league game ( sometimes players would watch each other’s as they knew each other anyway) but the coach came watching and lads video’d it on their phones and their next session the footage was gone through in a team meeting by all accounts ! Absolutely unbelievable, especially as most knew each other in any case but apparently they were looking at the ones they didn’t. This was u15 ! we won the cup game so it didn’t do them any good , but yeh, notes on who to watch, tactics to deal with certain players all very premier league .

Yeh get that, it was more they were all sat there and all got treated the same no matter which team, the sweets were only a small part of it at the end , sat in the centre circle with all parents gathered around . I’ve coached kids for years too and know only too well the minefield it is, from offering lifts to even consoling one who’s upset etc but this was more a comment on this particular coaches desire to improve the game as a whole rather than his result on the day 👍

My daughter played Morecambe academy once. U10 so 4 years ago due to only having one coach, the other coach from Morecambe took our subs with his and was doing drills while waiting and telling our girls tips on how to defend against their fast winger etc after the game all the girls sat together , each got offered sweets from this box and the main Morecambe coach went through the game from both points of view and gave a lot of advice/ praise to each of our players as well as his own . Emphasis was developing girls playing, not the result or which team they were on. Always had a lot of time for Morecambe after that experience.
