Meanwhile In Dublin
The minimum marriage age was only raised to 16 in the 1920s , before that it was 12 for a female

Meanwhile In Dublin
Yes but that’s in the Gospels that’s why it’s believed some chose to believe other parts or their interpretation of other scriptures but that gets all theological and can’t be arsed with that , just pointing out that some stories are known to be made up

Meanwhile In Dublin
Only the gospels are considered the truth. The bible contains things known to be made up stories, even to the most ardent followers.

Meanwhile In Dublin
Think that was late last year and mainly for Ukrainians , may have changed now as they’ve literally built a complete estate for Ukrainians in Sligo , which is all well and good but imagine being an Irish person on the housing list and see the government do that while saying there’s no money to build social housing As well as all the ones with accommodation, there’s also loads living in tents on the electric picnic festival site as there’s just nowhere to go

Meanwhile In Dublin
But of a lazy comparison that , understandable , but not quite the same as emigration in the most part to work , not be housed in hotels and given houses while the locals were evicted due to cost of living crisis issues caused by the governments perceived actions and plus, if you look at the reasons for Irish need to emigrate through the years , maybe not a complaint British people should make to be clear, I think the rioters are total fuckwits, smashing their own city up and particularly O’Connell St , I don’t agree with their stance on immigrants at all, especially this collective responsibility for all for the actions of a few , Irish people suffered that themselves all over , but can see why frustration is there and the government need address it but more on the help for “ natives” rather than stop helping immigrants. honestly, young person I know went for a house in Dublin, €500 euro a month it was advertised at, bargain, only it was only offered as a buy to let for landlords to help ease the social housing crisis, landlord got the same house and is now charging the government €1500 a month housing people from Syria and he’s at his mams unable get a foot on the ladder. that’s the sort of thing causes ill feeling, not the fact they are immigrants per se

Indeed. It’s been bubbling for a while with the similar perceptions to here, hotels full free shopping vouchers etc etc . O’Connell st has had issues with foreigners abusing women , begging etc recently , blown out of proportion because it’s not the local scrotes ( who are plentiful) something like this is the spark to ignite all the dickheads and Dublin has loads more who will happily join in attacking the guards and looting .

Meanwhile In Dublin
True and I get why you’d say that as I said the same myself, but the argument is that the majority of Irish left for work, to countries that could absorb them and needed them . histoic stereotypes of “ paddy on the railroad and road “ etc there is a significant opinion in Ireland at the moment, from some, who think the people coming over to Ireland are free loaders who get everything done for them, taking services and houses off Irish people when there’s people struggling / getting evicted etc. there’s full villages of Syrians in some places and they built a Newtown for Ukrainians The grievances or perceived grievances are very similar to here really in some aspects

Cars you always liked as a kid.
Always liked Cortina’s as a young kid, prob because there was someone on the estate who had one painted like Dukes of Hazard , complete with air horn playing Dixie as well but the only car I ever wanted was a jeep like the fall guys . first legal car I had was a chevette but the best car I ever had as a teenager was a Vauxhall viva I bought for a tenner off some bloke who thought it was knackered, rear wheel drive and went around every corner sideways as a young dickhead . coolest was a Nissan Bluebird mk 1, 2 doors but could roll the back windows down as well as the doors so the whole side was open , so thought I was cool as fuck in that until it blew up on me and caught fire on the M56 . happy days when cars didn’t necessarily need insurance or paperwork or even a driver with a full licence …

Meanwhile in Israel
Spot on . it’s ironic that if they did call the march off , the people who’d be most disappointed would include some of those screaming for it to be cancelled.

Where's that ale thread gone?
Has anyone who likes Guinness tried the cans and Guinness surger? very good in my opinion, not quite like proper good draught Guinness but close enough and better than a lot places I’ve had it . certainly better than draught cans of the stuff and worth it if you drink Guinness at home a lot

Whiskey recommendation.
Red breast, anything by Teeling or Tyrconnell for something different. read the descriptions and avoid the peat ones . https://www.masterofmalt.com/country/irish-whiskey/

I was surprised to read recently that there are only approximately 14 million Jews worldwide doesn’t seem a lot

To be fair , I read his comment as he’d edited it because he had re read it , not that he was asking you to re read it , though just putting the phrase re read it when you can’t hear it does leave it open to misinterpretation and could be either .

Similar to the Jewish terrorists who bombed British soldiers then yes? similar to every terrorists known to man from every persuasion. your point is irrelevant apart from being directed at me why you asked me directly about hamas links to the IRA ( which I don’t think there were) when I mentioned the Jewish atrocities tells its own story mate . I’m not one of your usual nemesis on here and I won’t turn a thread into bickering , ruining it for everyone else reading , TMGJ also disagreed with what I wrote, but articulated a reasoned argument / different point of view, backed with other points for debate if needed, you, you asked an irrelevant question and you know why you asked it. you can’t get away from the fact you’d have been pro Palestine if you were around in the 40s , due to the actions of Jewish terror groups then . doesn’t mean you would be or need be now, that’s my point , absolutely fuck all to do with Ireland, the IRA or Celtic , it’s about Jewish / Israeli terror groups campaign against British governance
-
Meanwhile in Israel
So no answer then . Your comment has no relevance or point without explanation. will trust my hunch as to why and leave you to it.

Meanwhile in Israel
Yeh, not turning it into a competition, but just pointing out the juxtaposition some must feel though I always thought Palestinian was of that area , so can’t expand it to all Muslims , but, like I say, was the juxtaposition, I don’t know the numbers tbh
-
Meanwhile in Israel
Not sure , but don’t think so, know there is a lot of support for the Palestinian cause not sure why the IRA it’s relevant to Jewish terror attacks or why you’ve asked to be honest though I might have an inclination .
-
Meanwhile in Israel
Right wing supporters of Israel head’s must fall off when the read of the Jewish insurgents and the King David hotel etc , when Palestinians were the allies of British troops being killed, pro Palestine and anti Jewish demonstrations in the uk because of it. as mentioned by loads in this thread, who you feel strongly about depends where you start , but, the last 100 years or so Jewish terrorists have killed more British soldiers than Palestinian terrorists I’d guess
