It is very poorly signed . any other contractor would be on 2hr defects from the council highways if did similar. Seem to accept lower standards off their own , or at least don’t push the defects as hard

I usually go straight across and up by Thornleigh through Oldhams and over Bar lane. not sure how much it saves but it’s better than sitting in the queue as far back as Lidl . not at school times though obviously. they reckon the works will reduce that right turn time too, but we’ll see .

No involvement in that as a whole but was in the initial prep works , it’s junction re modelling to create a dedicated right turns, for moss bank way to Blackburn rd mainly . Improve safety and traffic flow along with better pedestrian routes.

Most road works done in holiday time where possible and to be honest that’s a pain in the arse . Not all things can be though , but, to be fair, Bolton council are one of the best ( or worst dependent on which side you are on ) at insisting it is . lot of things you won’t see any difference at all from one day to the next or even when it’s finished due to the work being under the road and sometimes the council don’t get a choice either

Would never laugh at abuse of refs, but this topic reminded me of a time I took an u11 team to play Whelley Alexander in Wigan years ago. as was often the case, coaches reffed . Their coach was reffing and one little scrote of a player of his team was effing and blinding at the ref, that’s a “fucking joke ref “ “ are you fucking blind” etc , ref shouts at him, if you don’t shut up I’ll get Jason take you off doest listen, ref gives a throw in to us that this little lad doesn’t agree with, shouts out “ yer a nob head ref that was ours” Ref says “ right that’s it , Jason take billy off sub him for Charlie , had enough of his cheek “ little scrote then says “ aww Dad “! 😁

Was on a local pitch in the summer having a friendly, pitch next to us was having a 3 way round robin, I’d say u7 but certainly no older than 8. while the kids were playing, some balloon was shouting over to the coach on the opposite side, the coach waved over with possibly the mouthy gesture , next thing this balloon is on the pitch doing the pavement dance “ cmon then “ in the middle of the kids , others had to go on to keep apart an the teams playing got taking off crying while balloon had to be restrained and dragged off. due to age of my kids, been involved in kids football constantly since 2002 and still am , have seen loads over the years but nothing as bad as that .

Is anyone else cautiously optimistic about the rumours of price freeze deal? @Spider mentioned it a bit back and seems to be doing the rounds as a rumoured plan. the difference between Labour and Tories plan is how to finance it, ( basically) , windfall tax v taxpayer , there are pros and cons for each ( I know that doesn’t fit on here !) but so long as there is a freeze , the costs don’t spiral and there’s certainty in what you’ll be paying that’s got to be a good thing.

Said before, but, I had a chance go to Antarctica for 12 month contract for 50k when I was 22, ( 1992)thought of the cold, no beer clubs girls or going to the match, as well as a massive dollop of bottling it about being away for so long meant I turned it down. life been good in the main really but always wonder where I’d be if I’d done that, certainly wouldn’t have been the same .
