2022 holidays
Yeh and transport from there to Wicklow may not be the best late at night . stay in Kildare if you want out of the city, somewhere like Leixlip you may get a good deal and more chance of transport.

Try Enniskerry , there’s a bus to Dublin , whether you’d class it as good I don’t know . is your gig central Dublin / Dublin City ? Depending on which part there may be better out of city options than Wicklow, that aren’t as “ touristy” but will have nice places to stay

Meanwhile in Ukraine
My cousin is involved in a charity called Chernobyl childrens international. they bring people from homes like that from the region for respite in Dublin and Ireland ( she’s in the Dublin branch) not had them over since Covid obviously and then the war stopped it this year. Even before the war she told me it’s easier and they get more cooperation from homes in Belarus than Ukraine, prior to all the recent issues, she’d been in homes in Belarus 19 times and allowed in Ukraine once. she reckons major improvement is needed in the way they care for disabled folk before they’re allowed to join the EU.

The Skirmish.
I got the same as an apprentice fitter being from Breightmet. “ lock your tools up lads, this fuckers liable have em away , he’s from Breightmet“ was the introduction of a young 16yr old me to the rest of the workshop when I stated on the YTS .

Town Centre Latest
Just been in now for an appointment. fuck me the market place used to be the place they’d point to when saying about the other parts of town boarded up now it’s like an inside version of the rest of it. not been for a while and was surprised, but suppose that’s part of the problem and cycle, loads don’t go in for a while, something else shuts because no one goes in, someone goes in, sees that it’s shite and doesn’t go for a while again, so something else shuts because no one goes in because loads of things shut .

View from one unionist brexiteer . He has some good points , basically the politics of the extreme is holding NI back, he has an interesting take, unionists should want a strong NI as that makes a United Ireland less likely, https://www.irishtimes.com/ireland/2022/07/16/could-protocol-make-northern-ireland-the-singapore-of-europe/?fbclid=IwAR2UNSW8beegYGejubBEteMH7DV2gr9cQxAR-8_0l6fqNgvE_HnjrmTixUw

Last paragraph . this is happening, this is how it was sold . lots of business doing very well the north wont undermine the south , I’ll be mutually beneficial all Ireland economy, competitive with each other as businesses across the island a ni firm won the contract to build Dublin buses for example

Yes I know . they do now un hindered due to the GFA . it wasn’t always the case The border goes through towns in some places with the shops in one and houses in another for example. that makes it hard to control goods that are supposed to be NI only as it’s not a border like most other country borders . The sea border was an agreed solution, obviously could do with tweaks to reduce the burden as all things do, but, even if that happened the DUP would not agree to it , it’s not the paperwork they are against it’s the principle of it.

Don’t think Brussels are to concerned about people bringing shopping over the border mate, not what I’m saying . I’m saying that it’s an issue for the people there , peoples lives negatively affected , hassle for people both sides of the border that they don’t need and the border issue is about that as much as Brussels / Uk trade agreements and the high level trade stuff around green lanes and sea borders .

That’s the trouble, it is negotiable. The whole essence of its existence is only while it’s wanted by the majority there. The issue that confuses this is it’s being spoken about as a border between two countries, comments like “ Mexico and America” Canada etc. it was never drawn as a border between two countries, it was a line that simply marked two jurisdiction zones of the same country. It’s always been an issue since it’s inception. the “ mark M&S goods for NI only “ policy falls down a bit when someone’s local M&S is in the north but they live in the south there used to be checks pre brexit and people getting shopping taken off them , people unable to go to the shop down the road for butter & milk it’s not all about Ira / UVF shit, it’s peoples daily lives at stake .

Hearing aids
I would recommend boots . get a hearing test and they’ll set up a set of the ones they do , tuned to the sounds you can’t hear in relation to how poor each frequency and sound is, so some sounds amplified more than others and some not at all . automatic change to voice directions and noisy environment plus all kinds of other features , phone mode, Bluetooth etc . I got persuaded to try it after years of complaining people were mumbling, telly on 30 etc . Slow noise induced loss. Couldn’t believe the difference when I first tried them, no exaggeration to say it changed my life , could hear people properly in meetings etc and in the pub and all kinds of weird little things. out telly went from volume 30 to 18 and everything is sharper . others will do similar but I used boots and would definitely recommend.

Mo Farah
Might be me but I read W63 post as saying “ not much sympathy here” as referring to the thread as “ here” and previous posts on the thread not having sympathy as opposed to him not having sympathy. Think he was taking the previous posts seriously. might be wrong but explains why he went on to be sympathetic, but wh knows on here !

I think that’s more likely. the fermy paradox I think it’s called , that civilisations evolve and cease to exist before technology available to meet or observe each other

Yes Or No.
Worked with Johnny Marrs dad for years his verdict was Morrisey was a twat now , but was a lovely lad when younger as a side note , he also met Madonna once at some awards show and the impression was “ stuck up old cow who wouldn’t talk to you, thinks she’s something “ 😁 He probably spoke to her about tarmac and gas main replacement so we all took It she was just surprised and the fact she didnt want to discuss JCB’s v Kubota doesn’t make her stuck up 😁

Space Dudes
Could be or , even more mind blowing is that the image is how things were 4 and half billion years ago so could be well advanced of us by now. the fact the galaxies n the foreground bends the gravitational field of space so it can see objects behind it too makes my head fall off trying to figure it out fascinating
