  1. City was a dire match. We won because they were more disorganised than we were. I missed the Stoke game so I can't really comment on the performance but if that's it I rest my case. And Garrp, I have been to away matches as well. Really enjoyed them off the pitch but still not convinced on it.
  2. Well it reflects my mood then. I'm sick of being told that Megson is getting a raw deal and that everyone who criticises him does so because they expect to beat Utd 8-0. Utter bollocks. We are negative, boring and utterley clueless under this bloke. Yes we played some crap under Allardyce but mostly it was winning crap and we had a system. Allardyce had us organised and got the best out of the players.Portsmouth aside it has been dire at home this season. The only hope we have is that there are three worse sides than us. Fantastic.
  3. I know Faye leaving was nothing to do with Megson. My point was that IMO the only one out of those listed who would be good enough to help us now was Faye. Megson was right to offload the others and as you say needed to before he could bring in his signings. A job that is still ongoing. I wouldn't criticise Megson for the players he has brought in. What we do with them once they are here is another thing entirely.
  4. I don't think we are Real Madrid. I didn't expect to beat Man Yoo. I don't need a reality check. I still don't rate Megson. It would be easier to list the Premier managers I wouldn't swap him for: Coco the clown at Newcastle, Tony Pulis &Tony Adams. The rest would probably be an improvement.
  5. Out of all those, I would have kept only Abdoulaye Faye. I don't think any of the others would get into our first team at the moment. Stelios possibly as a squad player but the rest are hardly missed.
  6. And I'm not sure WHAT you are talking about. Unless you are one of the smug nobbers on here who now likes to go on that Allardyce wasn't actually that good for BWFC and hint that criticising Megson is an example of an inferior intellect in some way. Not everyone who is not convinced by Megson is a 'Mugson idiot'. We will get dicked by Blackburn. Yes I'm going and yes I'll get behind the team but that is how I feel.
  7. Megson was not one of the positives today. Let's see how many of these winnable games coming up we actually win. Let's see how we do against any side who are approaching anything like 'form'. Let's see in our next game how Megson does against the best manager we have ever had.
  8. I have tried to be even handed in the past but my faith in Megson's tactics is now none existent. Yes I'm disappointed with the result today and there were still some individual player positives but patience with Megson is exhausted. I know a lot on here seem to think it their duty to defend him but what system are we playing? Kevin Davies as a defender? First half all Uniteds play went straight past (or around) him. Why is our movement off the ball so poor? Where is the width? How where we supposed to score when we broke forward with today's set up? These are all questions we have been asking most of the season. I can't shake the feeling that the only teams we have beaten this season are those that are in a slump at the time (City,Boro,West Ham), not playing for their manager (Sunderland) or pure luck (and Jussi granted) in Hull. Megson wasn't a genius then and he sure isn't one now. I agree with Mounts, Megson is not up to it. Frustratingly I think we do have some decent Premiership quality players, pity Megson doesn't know what to do with them.
  9. If this is right, and no reason to doubt Traf!, it makes it all the more unfathomable. The point is not that the players may or may not have got onto the pitch. How is it going to harm anyone by giving some young players the 'premiership experience' of travelling down to the Emirates, mixing with the first team and the honour of being a premiership substitute? Is this not going to motivate any academy lad who gets chosen and also encourage any who don't? Surely it will give them the impression that they will get a chance at Bolton. It was a crap decision to name only four subs even if it was Megson trying to make a point about the size of the squad. That point could have been made with Academy or reserve lads on the bench. What it did do was show BWFC up to the rest of the Premiership as small time. It has also counted against Megson for me personally and I'm trying my best to back him. Not impressed at all.
  10. totally with you there Bolty. Of all the players to whinge about I can't believe Davies is not appreciated. It also really pisses me off when our fans concentrate on the negative side of things. This lad cost nothing, no one really expected too much yet he has been one of the main reasons BWFC have established themselves in the Premiership. If his influence (and it is still IF) is on the wane then we still have a lot to thank KD for.
  11. That's what I felt as well. How can it be right that Chopper Harris could get away with that assault on Eddie Gray? That was not football in whatever era.Rodney Marsh waxing lyrical about hard men! Didn't someone give him a handbag once (at our place?). But it was a decent watch. A few snippets from the Blackburn match, big Frank reminiscing and I now have that goal against Ipswich to show Junior Snowball. But what about that John Dempsey, unbelievable barnet and hasn't Gerald Sinstadt gone downhill! Great memories of kick off though. Sadly the point made about modern footballers being totally out of touch with fans was very true. That Tony Livesey (broadcaster my arse) is a right bell end as well.
  12. I know we can be a paranoid lot but moaning about Football First!!!! Thank God for football first!!! The whole point of that is you can f@*k MOTD off and get guranteed 40 minute highlights of BWFC.No 'Bolton hating' smug bar stewards like Lawro, Mary Poppins and Crisp Man. I never even noticed we were number five, too excited to bother. Well done to all who made the trip as well. I just hope I am looking forward to wathcing it next week.
  13. I don't understand how you can highlight one of our best players this season for doubts yet still maintain Nolan had a good game on Saturday? I agree with George, O'Brien is more of a concern than Cahill.
  14. Is Danny Ward local then? If he is then Traf has a point. If not then moaning for moaning's sake.
  15. The great thing about football is that two people can watch the same game and come away with totally different opinions of what they have seen. I can't see how anyone could think Nolan had a good game yesterday. He was awful, but that's just my opinion. He should have been hauled off in the second half. Plus Megson daren't drop him. There I've said it. Now I'll duck.
  16. I didn't think I was being negative. I said we didn't play badly but I have my reservations about Megson. Just my opinion like. I try and not get personal on here, leave that to others, but I can see why those who are CONSTANTLY negative get stick. I am not constantly negative. I think Megson did well to keep us up last season and has brought some very good players into the club it's the tactical side that worries me.
  17. Whilst I expected nothing today and don't think we played badly I'm struggling to see just what system we are supposed to be playing. I actually feel sorry for Elmander, no service and all over the place. At the risk of upsetting some and I'm a big fan of his, Nolan was poor (Taylor was the only other one I could fault). But it can't have helped Nolan that he was shifted around to cope with the change at half time. Which brings me back to the 'master-plan'? What is Megson's grand plan? Maybe we will see developments in January.
  18. Very good question. I'll get back to you later, head still sore after yesterday!
  19. Guy sat behind me slagging Nolan off, saying we'd be better off without him, not had a good game for 4 years, unfit etc etc. Then in next breath he's bemoaning the fact we sold Idan Tal and Andranik. Both would have been much better than Nolan. Go figure! (as they say in the US of A)
  20. Yes it does and criticism comes with the territory. But my point was that some of the abuse is over the top and must get to Megson whether he earns ?15,000 or ?500,000 or whatever.
  21. You are right you weren't there. Whatever you heard on the radio, the ground was not in complete silence. You could hear the talking going on near the bar and on the concourse. These people did not realise the silence had started and as the 'White Army' shout came from right at the back I'm giving this bloke the benefit of the doubt. It may have sounded terrible on the radio but honestly there were Wanderers fans who simply could not hear or see that the silence had started. If some mongtard had done it deliberately, believe me I would be absolutley livid.
  22. I didn't get that vibe from him, he does look a bit down at the personal abuse he has been getting but he has consistently said how important our support (from Boro) onwards was in the run in last season and praised the fans for this. The fans got behind the team on Saturday whilst still having a few digs at him. I think he will just have to settle for that, for now. As one previous poster said he gets stick when it goes wrong but no credit when we win. That's why I am becoming more and more sympathetic to Mr Megson. It can't be nice when so many people are set against you particularly now the national press have picked up on it 'as popular as Gary Megson in Bolton' etc.
