Different preferences I get it, but is this nostalgia looking back at how successful we were under Sam and our long ball tactics? we had great individual talent back then too, so if softened our main approach, which was for large parts,(for example) N'Gotty long to K.Davies (avoiding the mids) hoping for a flick on or a bring down for then someone like Nolan to run onto or link up with. It's fine to mix things up, but the long ball negative stuff isn't great on the eyes, well it's fine when you win of course lol.

If JM scored when put through by Conway, I reckon that would be our assist of the season and maybe one of our all time greats, mazy run and perfect through ball, you don't see many full backs capable of doing that regardless of level they play at, looked a mad dive tbh after it, but not seen a close up.

Obvs the Forest survival day come back was close to that in terms of 2 late goals, but 2 goals in stoppage time, struggling to think of us doing it, may be forgetting summat obvious like.

Please use this as the start of something, deserved also, I criticized Dalby vs Burton for his misses, so it's only fair to say GREAT HEADER!!!

Draw on 5th December, some new teams in it in Uzbekistan, Jordan and Cape Verde so far, be interesting to see what Tuchel does in the 6 games before it starts, some great players to come back in you'd think, but maybe not.

They improved 2nd half, their keeper made 3 good saves from Dalby twice and Dempsey but 2nd half was a bit like Wigan a couple of levels down performance wise, not much you can take from a game like this but some decent performances, McAidoo their sub looks to have something about him

Not sure if JM was nervous about shooting, but that was very very unselfish(and the right thing to do) to give Dalby his first Wanderers goal.

That was class from City and Haaland, Villa having a dreadful season so far.

1st half terrific and Gale was great, but 2nd half was less so, Forino shouldn't allow a player like Mullin who isn't gonna do anything but what he did in terms of working it on his right foot, apart from that he won almost everything and was excellent. They had a lot of corners and Johnstone kept giving them away unnecessarily, he did block some crosses first half and you saw in his fist pumping he was very happy with his defending but I feel was can do better in that position, I know Dalby knocked one down for one of our few chances 2nd half for Simons volley, but I don't see much from him when he plays, just looks a like a tall player who'll come alive with crosses/long balls etc, perhaps the City u21 game will be an opportunity to see him get chances and off the mark. Great goal from Burstow and Forss took his goals very well, Gale the standout for me today, 2nd half did drop but when you're 4-0 up it's expected when 3 points are pretty much in the bag, was thinking we could match that 6 or 7 we got v Sunderland and Exeter though. Sorry for picking out some weak points, 4-1 is a great score, especially against a side who has done us like this in recent seasons, long unbeaten run continues and our attackers all heavily involved again, just not in the 2nd half when the game was done. ... also Simons 2nd half with his back to goal did a lovely little feint to turn past a cluster of players, reminded me of how Okocha used to get out of situations when seemingly under some pressure, lovely bit of play that.
