Midfield/Forwards

We have had several players since we got relegated from the premier league who would improve us and get in the current starting line-up. My Question is. Have we had a better midfield/forward six that started against Wigan on Saturday since we got relegated from the premier league

Featured Replies

The midfields/forwards we started the season after relegation will have been technically better, but in terms of better at the level of competition I, think our current line-up could potentially be up there

I wrote this without even remembering back who we had............The first game after relegation from the Premiership our front six were    Petrov, Andrews, CYL M Davies, Sordel and K Davies.  We got beat 2-0 To Burnley

No doubt that 2012 was superior.......When do we start putting those six that started Saturday against

I've got this set down as bloody miles better than the team Parky took up that's for certain.

Petrov chungy and mavies were all better. We’ve been starved of decent midfielders that long though that I don’t belittle anyone asking that question

Tim ream absolutely destroyed that match. Didn’t win a header all match

As have i, Parky team had better centre backs and perhaps the postman would also get in

My first thought was I'd have CYL in any of the 3 positions behind the striker in our current system, especially at this level, he'd absolutely tear teams apart.

Before Simons and Erhahon coming in and looking formidable, I wouldn't have minded a Spearing type either.

Rob Hall would waltz into this team

CBA looking but what does Rob Hall do now?, Amazon?

Probably one of them Amazon drivers that take the picture of the package outside the house then nick it

What position?

I think our two first choice wingers will go on to have a better career than Rob Hall tbh.

According to Wikipedia he's 31 and plays for Cheshunt in the Isthmian Premier Division.

Not been in the football league since 2021 with Oxford in L1.

He retired in the summer

PLAYING

Sheehan  Morley  GT

didnt get us up last season

Doubt those three started more than a handful of games all season............Morley not with us until new year and Sheehan Morley out injured last month

Most people would have that midfield as  one of the best in the league last year..........None would get in Schumacher two of Erhahon and Simons  this season.

Yet went on to have a long Premier career including captain of Fulham. Can't have been half as shite as many decided he was.

I put it down to Nando's.

Marcus Alonso could only make the bench for that game.......He went on to do ok

My we had some clueless managers once Sam went.

I don’t think we have a regular midfield/forward six or that Schumacher thinks so either. We have a dozen or so players he can call on to use in different roles and systems depending on who we’re playing. He seems set on keeping the wingers for the time being but so far he’s tried a few different combinations. Maybe success against Wigan will persuade him to stick with that system for the time being as just about everything else has resulted in a draw or a loss?

So is your question about a particular game in the last 13 years where the players on that day played better than those that played against Wigan? If so I’d say Evatt’s lads who demolished Sunderland 6 nil including Dion, Dapo, Bakayoko, Kieran Lee etc. If only they’d played like that every game…..

The midfield/forwards we had during the second half of Evatt's first season were top drawer for the level

Dapo is the best since the post relegation season. But as a group these have potential to be the best, a bit early to be anointing them so.

At one point last season folk were wanking themselves into a frenzy over Matete after a couple of good performances so it'll take more than beating Wiggin and a bunch of 1-1 draws to get me too excited.

Doogies team that did Blackburn and Leeds a week apart werent too shoddy, bit of depth on the bench

No the question is pretty simple........Have we a better six that started up front Saturday against Wigan since we exited the premier league in 2012.....Seems that midfield forward line up first season back was a lot stronger.

The team that beat Sunderland played  with wingbacks a three in midfield and Dapo and Charles up top......This was before Evatt system was found out and we had a couple of players who were at their prime.......Would say the team that beat Sunderland was a better team overall but a midfield of  Williams, Morley and John is nowhere near as strong as the Midfield today

We are starting to see a settled team now....The System Schumacher plays has not changed since the Stockport game.....He wont deviate with either the system or  change the team unless players get knocks from now until we start playing two league games a week

Le fondre? He’d be in for me.

I think that’s an over exaggeration, we’ve had Madine, Le Fondre, Ameobi, postman, all would be possible starters on this team. I’ll reserve judgement on the current front 6.
