Use loads, and I mean loads of fresh (as in a freshly opened or recently freshly opened) Paprika - add a good glug of Heinz Ketchup. I wasn't defending it - it's a waste of time and potential intelligence to me. As for the slightly fascist anti-fascists - we're back to the clippity-clop 's slipper again...I'm always surprised how narrow-minded some of these types are, it gives far-right groups a veneer of respectability these counter-protests, I always think without an opposition (mainly the antifascists) to line up against and trade insults and/or fisticuffs with they'd look even more like what they are - vaguely ludicrous. But, then again, the unwashed crusties would be denied a day out on the piss/taking drugs and causing meither, why should the extreme right have all the fun? Both are sets of shitstirring nincompoops with no relevance to the modern world.

Regarding the Islamic studies thing, if a kid shows an aptitude for learning the Koran etc. then rightly or wrongly (wrongly imo, but I think religion and education should be completely mutually exclusive) this promise is nurtured. Just like the Priesthood was considered (still is in some circles) a worthwhile and rewarding career path, this is still mirrored within the muslim community - being a religious scholar, perhaps with a view to becoming an Imam eventually, is highly regarded.

Grades are dependent on so many factors, often parents who think they are actively involved in bettering their kid's education are actually causing it slight detriment. That said, Daz's point is, sadly, true, households that adhere to faith school's entry requirements, more often than not through necessity rather than true belief, seem to have greater success in producing children who are at a decent level academically and have behavioural skill above that of adolescent chimpanzees in Blackpool Zoo.

So what's being implied is there's a two-tier system, this isn't new, though previously it was based on merit, it's now based upon the willingness of the parent(s) to follow the tenents of a religion, often disengenuously. The upside for these devotees and hypocrites is educational standards are somewhat better, arguably increasing their children's prospects. The downside is their offspring are far more likely to be bummed/shagged by staff, or worse, taken by them to see Billy Joel in concert.
