Typical that. I was going to take my womb monkeys to their first game at OT but I had a feeling it would be packed so I didn't bother. Looks like I missed the perfect game.
  2. Not me Dids. I remember him from the old messageboard but never met him.
  3. Ah, that's what it was. Pretty unnecessary trip to the doctors that was...
  4. I've booked Stockport via Crewe as well but only just heard about this no alcohol rule (strangely it wasn't mentioned on the train website). Since when can us adults manage to work, pay for luxuries like tickets and transport to Wembley and then still be treated like childish cunts who shouldn't be allowed to drink beer? Since when did being a football fan mean we had our rights taken away from us? Just for that I'm going to stay sober but act pissed anyway.
  5. Didn't they used to serve Hoffmeister in plastic bottles for ?2 a time at the old Wembley?
  6. This thread has everything.
  7. Frank goes to most away games. Last season at Tottenham he appeared at the side of pitch directly below the away fans in that top tier in the corner. It's one thing to see him with his shirt off in the away end but none of us could fathom how he suddenly emerged just a few feet from the corner flag with his tits out. Needless to say he was gently escorted to top tier.
  8. Office party about five years ago I shat on the boss's desk. Then I remembered I was self-employed.
  9. Cheddar Evans Tony Caerphilliskirk
  10. It was only a 10 Minute Rule Motion and it passed with the Second Reading booked in for 11th June 2011 so if anything is ever likely to happen it won't be a long, long while yet. Plus it would have to get through the many stages of the Lords and they're not exactly in touch with the average football fan these days.
  11. I'm glad someone else has spotted that...or those. No idea what score it is anymore though because it's now much harder to follow the game.
  12. You'd need a helicopter to get up there today. Food's shit in there these days...just thought I'd mention that.
  13. Gee Gross is very gloomy. It'll be even worse when the snow arrives there.
  14. Hyde was bad yesterday morning but it cleared up. It's even worse this morning though and still snowing (although much lighter). Main roads are OK but no side roads have been gritted. Chances are he's telling the truth.
  15. I moved to Manchester about 15 years ago. Last week when the Liverpool fans were calling us Mancs my seven year old lad asked what they meant so I told him it was all his fault and all the away fans hated him. Another Parent of the Year Award on its way...
  16. Two for the price of one:
  17. I didn't know Jason Manford was from Manchester...but then I've never managed to listen to more than 4 minutes of him.
  18. I think on a match day you use the other entrance (at the front) so you'll actually go into the new ticket office itself. It's bound to have some teething problems and the queue will be out of the door...but it has to be better than the old set-up.
  19. Apparently he worked with a bloke from Bolton who told him to support Bolton and he did and has done ever since.
  20. Fair points Boothy. I will say though that the manager himself is keen to re-engage with the supporters and the BWSA plays just a small part in that, much in the same way forums do but you are spot on that the forums have taken the lead in taking advantage of the new social media and from that point onwards there is always an element of playing catch-up. The fact that WW remains so successful today is evidence of that.
  21. Sluffy, you can have whatever concerns you like about me and Mike...that's entirely up to you. But your re-writing of history to make a point is somewhat childish. Firstly, the old 'official' board was closed down because people were having a dig at Gartside...and anyone who knows me (which is at least three people, possibly four including relatives) will be aware that I've defended 'Uncle Phil' for the last five years and I've got the scars to prove it. The new BWSA website will NOT have a forum. It'll be a basic website that carries details of upcoming events and allows people to register online. It will also have a link to every Bolton forum. There's nothing sinister in it. We have made contact with all the forums to arrange a social get together. The arrangements are in the very early stages but so far 80% have signed up. The plan is to meet up and have a pint. Again, nothing sinister. Will it help the BWSA get across their message? Of course it will...but the talk of merging is simply you in fantastical WUM mode. I've always believed that whatever is said online should never provide a barrier to meeting up and having a beer to talk about Wanderers. As for us criticising the BWSA. Guilty. I've been the biggest critic of the Association for some time and I've always considered it a closed shop. But when presented with the opportunity to get involved and try to make a difference (along with three other like-minded supporters) it really was time to stop gassing and get the job done. There are no big announcements, there's no song and dance...the BWSA has to increase in size to have any credibility and that will be the sole purpose in the short term. The way we were co-opted onto the committee was wrong and it must have looked clumsy, baleful and curious to say the least. That wasn't the intention but any concerns regarding it were rightly raised on Tuesday night. And your comments regarding the usefulness of supporters clubs in the modern footballing era are apposite and possibly valid. I don't agree with that position though but that's probably an argument for another time. And on that note, the next social night is on 23rd November in the Lion of Vienna. Details to follow. Yes, that was a shameless plug. Utterly shameless.
