More prolific than this season? Almost all, as it happens. The majority of his goals this season have been pens (I think that's right, 4 of his 7?). I think this season is his lowest tally of goals from open-play in the league since he arrived. I'm not sure a player who doesn't score many scoring even fewer is a good place to start from. That's hardly the point though. Unless you are saying that you think Davies' all-round play has remained at a consistent standard. It hasn't. He started the season well but has dropped off (by his own admission) and I fail to see why he should be the only player in the 11 who simply must not be dropped under any circumstances. Davies has had good games and bad games, but he's had more bad than good lately and I'd simply quite like to see Klasnic given a couple of games to see if he can stand the pace for next season. Clearly I'm off my head.

Probably because if Megson's side had dropped off like Coyle's has we'd have been relegated, instead of just facing the horrifying possibility of not finishing in the top half. Coyle's made some mistakes of late, but saying "if that were Megson" is hardly even creditable. Megson dug his own hole.....Coyle has earnt himself a bit of credit and hopeful he won't keep spending it until he runs out.

Fair play to Redknapp for the CL successes, but Rose starting ahead of Krancjar? He'd walk into any side outside the top 5 and yet he never gets a game for them.

Taylor has some good aspects to his game. His work rate is usually good, he tracks runners and his movement is top-draw. Unfortunately, he's no long suited to the manager's system. He has no pace and can't beat a fullback, so he's always going to struggle playing wide in a 4-4-2. He's made a rod for his own back at times, by not looking arsed in a few games.....but generally he just doesn't fit what Coyle is trying to do, I think. Still, given that Petrov does supposedly have the attributes to play this system you have to give Taylor some credit. Petrov could do well for us and simply doesn't, Taylor's always going to struggle. The left was a major problem last season and it'll be a major problem next season if we stick with our current options. Today, the left wasn't the problem.....the centre was.

We call them "the defence". It's an ironic thing, because most of their play is indefensible.

Not made up, just doesn't mean much without clarifying what the stat actually means. My understanding is that the stat counts a goal scoring chance as receiving the ball in the 18 yard box. In which case, fine, Davies gets a lot of flick ons to players in the box. But most of his assists (6 in the league) were earlier on in the season and I don't see the harm in giving Klasnic a chance in the two remaining games to see if he can freshen things up. Another stat is that Davies has one shot on target every 2 games, which is less impressive. You can trade stats all day, but the ones that matter are goals and assists. Davies has few of each lately and I don't see why he should be undroppable if he's not producing; just like Elmander, Petrov or anyone else.

So like every season then.

I actually agree. Davies has offered very little in the second half of the season and we might as well play Klasnic and see what happens. I don't see what harm it can do and we may find that Klas is up to 90 minutes after all. If not, bring Davies off the bench. Whilst Klas does well as an impact player, that's no reason to keep playing Davies when he's been below-par.

Just when you think it can't get any worse, you remember we're Bolton. Any time a team are in a dreadful state and on an awful run, we gift them at least a chance. Amazing.

That'd be based on the same opta stat that claimed Lampard was the most creative player in the league last season because he created 109 "goal scoring opportunities". The trouble is that it doesn't give a good definition of what is meant by the phrase "goal scoring opportunity". I'm told (I don't know how reliable this is) that it counts it as a goal scoring opportunity any time you touch the ball on to a player in the box; if that's right it doesn't mean much. Davies was very good at the start of the season but has been poor in the second half. I'd agree with dropping him, but the other option is Elmander who has also dropped in form since Christmas. Fires and frying pans spring to mind; along with rocks and hard places.

Most people agree with you, Eddie. I happen not to. He's certainly no worse than, for example, Wheater.

Tomkins arrived on the scene to rave reviews and then lost his way, along with the entire West Ham defence. He's a kid and he needs a stable team around him, but he's talented. Upson offers him nothing, nor does Green; both are accident-prone and neither leads well. I still think Tomkins could be a good defender. He's fast, pretty strong, tackles well and has good distribution. He just needs the right coaching and partner.

I hope people don't expect Ali to be world class if he starts next season. He's a superb shot-stopper, but a limited 'keeper in other areas. He also makes errors. He's a good 'keeper, but not great. If people expect him to come in and be perfect, then he's going to get a lot of stick when they realise he isn't. He's similar to Jussi at that age. Superb one-on-one, but doesn't command his box. Hopefully he'll get the support of the fans, even if he makes an horrific error (as he has for Wigan at times).

I don't think we can keep both Jussi and Ali, unless Jussi is looking at a coaching role. Bogdan is being brought through and we have Lainton in the reserves who is well-regarded. We either sell Jussi or Ali.

Yes, but SW6-7 isn't south London. Still north of the river. Plus in areas like Finchley in the Ns you have movie-stars row etc. I was talking about Brixton and places; which I really like, but is what you'd call "rough".

What we've seen is that our away form has been terrible since 06/07: Our current away form is awful, but it's a continuation of crap. Our home form has also been terrible since 06/07: But suddenly we are having our best ever Prem season for home form. So to my mind, the manager earns a great deal of credit. He has completely transformed our home form. The away form needs to improve, which is the task for next season.

Diame is no better than Muamba, over all; plus Fabrice is nearly a year younger. Diame looks a lot more comfortable because he often gets to play in a 3-man midfield, but in a 4-4-2 he offers similar strengths and weaknesses. Surely we'd be better off getting something a little bit different?
