My parents have lived in Smithills since 82. I was 4 when I moved there. Its always been a middle class swing vote place with some folks trying to move there from Halliwell and 'keeping out' the change. Was the same in the 90s I go home often, it is changing, but sadly it'll go reform

Tv Shows
Yeah - first 3 or 4 series really good. Started off well but just doesnt seem to have much pace this series just everyone wandering around looking for the McGuffin and Homelander is just deranged now.

Tv Shows
It was ok - not as good as the first. The new series of The Boys is a huge letdown so far.

The Good Life
Full weekend last weekend doing it - couple of new beds dug. I just take it step by step - and each year the garden gets progressively better and using the winter mulch so not overspending on compost but there are good deals if you are willing to shop around. Found an excellent garden centre with healthy plants rather than the rubbish at B&Q - but Home Bargains do a nice cheap line in summer bedding plants for some inexpensive colour and they do excellent boxes of wildflowers whicj again is very cheap and easy to do . Doing more drought resistant plants down here, helps in the heavy clay soil (and our usual hosepipe bans) so the likes of Euphorbia which spreads well and looks lovely. Gardeners Question Time on R4 came from Chorley two weeks ago and had some great tips for growning in the North West - worth a listen on BBC Sounds. Things will fail, you'll make mistakes but crops like Raddishes or Corgettes you can't really go wrong with and will give you the confidence to go on with it. Also, if you have space make some raised beds - cheap to make and easy to do (even ive done it) and makes the world of difference and TMGJ has always been a helpful source of advice for me when im stuck. Oh amd hanging baskets of toms were a boon last year - carrots went ok but should have left them in longer - harvested waaaay too early.

Retirement planning & leaving UK
It's not a degree in and of its self Gender studies within Literature or Drama or music is where the study might come from. I understand you're not a person who had been through these tropes.

Retirement planning & leaving UK
Because we're simply saying those who have money can go - if you think your position its correct - its wrong.

Retirement planning & leaving UK

We can't keep making old people richer. Fuck them - we need more support in graduates.

Retirement planning & leaving UK
The tripple lock is a nonsense. Fuck off you old farts, you have been lucky enough to buy houses at nothing and then you want to move to Spain. Just disgusting.

Retirement planning & leaving UK
And this thread is an apt demonstration of why the old farts fucked it up for the next generation.

Donald Dead Cat On Is Head Trump
To fill that void. And everyone is making it easy for him. He doesn't have a vision, other than to be against. If Labour or the Consertives gave him nothing to butt against he'd be exposed as the posh southern wind bag he is. The arrogance of him to be up in the North West telling people that the place is a dumping ground for immigrants forgetting all the shit economic austerity strategy which he still endorsed meant local councils sought money from anyway to still run basic services. Then these shitheads have the gall to turn up and tell us it's someone elses fault and blame someone who is even poorer than you are with no following idea how to make this small island more ecomically balanced, before he fucks off again to Downe. Twat of the king highest order.

I dont actually think is down to the comms team - they follow the narrative. There isnt one. Politics is all about vision. You have to coaleace an electable party around how you will make a country better. Better is the touchword, Make America Great Again (nicked) was a vision. New Labour's 'Education, Education, Eduction' was a strategy. Whether you think its soundbites - they arent. They are strategies honed and then comms come in. I still dont know what this Labour government wants to do this our country. Its a silent government - im not saying its not doing good - but they need to fight harder and be better at giving direction and I simply dont think Starmer is the PM to do that, much as i respect him as a person. He's a manager and not a leader.

I know. I also understand a lot of what has happened. My problem comes from the old political adage 'if you are explaing, you're failing' At the moment there are a lot of good things going through but not a coherent vision or strategy.
