  1. Read the article I linked to; we smoothed the deal to buy him by facilitating the export of some tractors thanks to Ian Greaves' "connections". It's obvious when you think about it, especially as I went to all the trouble of finding the right brand of tractor from the right time period. I mean if it was a Massey-Ferguson, then I could see how people would have got confused. 😀
  2. See if this was a Carry On film: Peter Butterworth: "they used to get the balls back using on of them little boats" Sid James: "That's coracles..." PB: "no, it's true..." Barbara Windsor saunters past. SJ: "I'd paddle out to retrieve those two bouncing beauties....yak, yak, yak...."
  3. He's not in the pic! But he was playing in that game. It's the one referred to the BEN article: "Nowak had been given the nickname “Ferrari” by the Polish press after his starring role in a UEFA Cup game at the San Siro, which is thought to have prompted AC Milan to make an unsuccessful bid for his services a few years before the Bolton move." In the end he was more like one of them Ladas the team would advertise than a Ferrari.
  4. Getting old is better than the alternative though 🙂
  5. aye story here The tale of Tad Nowak - Bolton Wanderers' first-ever foreign signing | The Bolton News
  6. aye
  7. From the following clues The David Brown 996 Synchromesh tractor
  8. Absolutely. My old mam passed late last year; I was due to set off on another visit to the hospital in Bolton (from th'east midlands) when I got the call. Different family members reacted differently; but you let that go as - as has been said - people deal with things in different ways. She wouldn't have wanted it to be catalyst for fall out. Take care.
  9. I'd love to see that again on vid
  10. Old Mrs Lockwood must have been a goer to produce an entire team of Lockwood Brothers.
  11. Well when you read about this deep sea incident Byford Dolphin - Wikipedia you realise what pressure change can do. That one was in the opposite direction - high to low pressure - but was only a 9 atmosphere difference, not 400. As you say, they couldn't have known what hit them.
  12. Surely she'd be better off having a glow in the dark male attached on the end of that "rod" so he'd be trapped into permanently spending his time providing the food and just every so often bend round for a shag when she was up for it. Evolution missed a trick there; works for humans after all.
  13. I read that as Bolton postcodes at first! So the posh labs would be in BL4 but the crappier ones would be in Deane in BL3
  14. Orient twice within a month and well into the season, so their momentum should be gone from last year. The away in January will be a trip down memory lane (for some anyhow).
  15. Specially as they just released that high def laser imaging version. They can send unmanned ones down to keep tabs on how things degrade at such depths, which has some scientific merit. But grabbing stuff or risking lives just to say you'd done it and squinted through a mini porthole? Nah.
  16. I've got visions now of Bernard Bresslaw and Sid James working out who will kill Kenneth Williams. "Oooh now, you don't want to eat me. Look - I'm all skin and bones". "Bernie, you can have the wish bone. Yak yak yak".
  17. Yeh, that's what got to me about it all. Send an unmanned one down and control it through a top end VR headset. While sitting on a luxury bog and supping. I bet they forgot to take booze. If there's one thing worse than a slow death in a metal coffin miles under water, it's doing all that sober!
  18. and it seems they get bolted in from the outside, so even if it's surfaced they can't get out until someone finds them!
  19. Isn't the boss on it anyhow? So that's the least of his worries I guess. He must now be thinking that with billions at his disposal, and the ability to do absolutely anything, he's trapped in a metal coffin with an overflowing bucket for a khazi. Silly sod. Hope he gets out though and then gives that malarky up and sticks to a top end yacht crewed by high class Venezuelan prostitutes.
  20. Oh dear, how sad, never mind Russians Furious After Ukraine HIMARS Strike ‘Kills 100 Troops' (kyivpost.com)
  21. HBWHT? Hiroshima, Bikini Atoll or Tsar Bomba?
  22. Well the title is "today's games", and today Jamaica played a friendly at home to Qatar. Fuck me, the atmosphere and the skills, and it kicks off big time,,,
