Not sure they would as they are priceless as it is. I mean at my age I'll either never see it happen again or be so old I'd not make any aways. Plus we did so well in them and the venues were so diverse. Apart from maybe Scandinavia (Tromso was the dream) we got all over the place. If we get back via some Cup miracle in the not too distant (league is out forever with the new money now, unless we get a Middle East takeover) we might only have one match anyhow, away in Belgium or summat, and that would be that. To get 9 over two seasons (never mind that the 2nd time we qualified with a negative goal difference for the season 😃 ) and in such places with such results...no reason to think the club will ever see that again. From just that perspective they might as well have shut us down.

Indeed, doubt I'll never see us in Europe again at my age so I'm so glad I did all the travels. If we do get back I'll be a trebly incontinent dribbling wreck. I've still got one of them beach balls unused (and took one to, was it, Guimaraes?).. Pus two blue and white scarves that the club gave out for the Sporting away game, still in packaging. The other one I used I chucked to a Sporting supporter at the end as they fucked off applauding - expected to get summat back. Tight fisted Portuguese cunt just fucked off with it, with nothing in return. I know it was free, but have some decorum. Cheers. Number of people using it was the issue. If there's a good few then my car won't be targeted as it'll be the crappiest there! Looking on the map it's about 25% added to Bromilow walk, so not much fun but a clean getaway as you say. The Standish route sounds daft but does save a lot of potential grief I find. If I was driving someone back with me who didn't know where they were going they'd get a bit worried when I turned down the Haigh Hall cut-through in the dark 😄

Yeh, used to park up there many moons ago - farmer had one of the fields open for a couple of quid. I remember just after Reebok opened a lot got ticketed on the A6 after dark as parking lights were supposed to be on. The little layby by the Oak used to be good if you got there early. Was up there when Eidur got the winner against Wolves in 2000 and I had just gone for a piss, so ran up the steps to catch goal. Did my left hamstring in big time. Cadged a lift back to A6 as there was no way I could walk it. Thought I'd be OK, rather than just doss down at me old mam's in Daisy Hill, as it'll be a clear run back and it's my clutch foot that's gone. Hit the M6 and it slowed to a crawl. So I was surrounded by Wolves cars and in agony. Horrible journey and my foot seized up in bent position, so when I got out for petrol on the A50, the poor lass on the night shift looked horrified to see this figure hobble to pay, like Long John fucking Silver. Happy days.

Is Dicconson Lane a genuine option then? Never thought about that. Not up to many games now but done two homes this year and stayed at Prem Inn on the saturday so no issues. But won't be doing that all the time (though not getting up to all the games by any stretch). Used to go on Lynstock Way by the late lamented Bromilow, but trying that last year it was rammed quite early due to the big industrial place further down now not being used. Thing is, I have to get back via the M6 and so got in the habit of avoiding numbers round the 61/60/62 bits by heading off through Aspull/Standish and joining M6 further up. Adds mileage back to th'east midlands but cuts out potential jams. So Dicconson would make sense, despite the walk. Pint in the Royal Oak on the way...

The last point is key. I mean in the heat of battle the players themselves will be giving opposition verbals (if you're on the receiving end of a crunching foul I doubt the response will be "I say old chap, that was a tad uncalled for") and for that matter giving their teammates serious grief for not passing for a simple tap in. If the crowd is unfairly picking on a player and destroying his confidence then it's up the manager to spell that out (and in the process not further ruining confidence by calling him out). So what was said, and can be said, is key. Obviously there are forms of abuse that are beyond the pale. We all know that (probably including those that do it). On the other hand, if it's somewhat OTT but based on frustration then should it get under their skin? If you lose your rag at it, do you complain to higher powers just because you're annoyed with yourself at losing it? I don't know, because I don't know the gist of what was said. If it's on twitter or X or whatever it's called this week, who knows who is even posting it ie who they actually even support.

Seats as well here, right at the very end at the corner with the terrace. Heard nowt terrifyingly bad even though a few did voice issues with some, it was in response to genuinely poor play and just in the heat of the moment. Negativity didn't go over the top and was understandable due to the frustration building on the Wigan debacle. I wouldn't have heard anything said by the dugout though. Trouble is, where's the fine line? If someone has had a chance to calm down, well after the game, but still posts abuse on twatter - well I've less sympathy but even then, what's the line in the sand?
