I don't deny he has some of those features, i just don't think you can get away with him in a midfield 2. Fine in a 3, not suitable for a 2 man midfield.

For me there are is one main reason we won't go up through the automatics this season. It's down to our wingers especially ACD (not alone), and his wondergoals. These goals looked phenomenal but they masked deep fundamental problems in how we attacked. So many potential real goal scoring opportunities were being wasted before they even began with poor decision making, mainly so ACD could have a pop from 25+ yards. These were why we were drawing so many games in August/September time. Our down turn in December/ Jan coincided with teams working out how to contain these wondergoals, and it took SS too long to change our tactics to be more versatile and the only reason he seemed to do it is because ACD got injured.

I don't rate Sheehan at all in a 2 man midfield, there's too many compromises and for what? a decent pass or 2 every few games, it's not enough, AT THIS level you need the physicality of a Simons or even Dempsey. People who do rate him tell me what you see?

Nasty deflection, probably need to freshen things up in the next few min.

They will drop points, same with Cardiff, it's just a matter of time.

He's needed that, and i think we've needed a big scoring victory for a while.

People said it bemoaning his 4 year deal.

Remember what me and a few others said about getting some supply in the box back in December.

To bring it back to League 1 and the last time we were here with Parkinson, playing with wingers, Gary Madine scored 9 times, Dalby has started 10 times and scored 5. This idea that you need a Dion Charles type scoring 20 a season is wrong. ps like i said a few years back was Dion an amazing striker, as was the view at the time, or was it due to us pushing goals onto him with the tactics. A positon i was heckled for posting on here btw.

If you just count games Dalby's started this season and spread them over a full season, he's currently on for a 20 goal season. He can score, he just needs the supply, with a few others chipping in and we have our goals. What we needed was a no 10, the players will pass to and can score too, we now have one.

I think like Morley, the team are clearly playing hard to get to drive up the price on McAtee, due to the sums Barnsley is expecting for Dunne, it's only normal the same has been done to us for years. Nice to have a team in place that knows how to play the game.

Shame for Warren because he looked great preseason, reminded me of Zach Clough. By all accounts he's doing well at Aldershot, he'll be playing League 2 next year no doubt.
  17. McAtee come on man
  18. Goallllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Iles thinks it's 3421

    Done deal then surely.
  21. Another weird one really because you look at the squad and see some of the talented players they have in there like, Callum Wright, Morgan Fox and Oliver Cooper* etc and just watching them it's clear something isnt right. It looks tactical to me, i think a tiny bit like with us, Lowe's come in and decided to play a certain way, and while the inside wingers has worked on and off for us, what he's doing, never worked, and he's too proud unlike SS to change it when it isn't working.

I don't agree, i think when you're playing 2 in the middle, you need the physicality Sheehan lacks. I think that lack of physicality limits others in the team by forcing them deeper. His passing is the best in the team but i'm not convinced we need it from that position.

On the face of it he's bought in players to play 4231, which is fine, that's the formation we've played most of the season. The issue is that hasn't worked for a while and this change to 3421 while not looking the best, has atleast has us winning, so if we revert to 4231 and start losing again, the fans are quite rightly in my opinion aren't going to be happy. If we just revert to every attacking ball goes to the wingers and all they do is cut inside to shoot, just like Gale and ACD had been doing (the reason 3421 has been working is we haven't been doing this) we're going to have problems.

Question is, what does this look like in terms of a set up? something like this:
  25. Not sure it's a massive surprise why McAtee did well last night and hasnt been though most of the season. In the 4231 basically all our attacking moves go out wide (this isnt how youre meant to do 4231) which is why the no10 positon has been cursed for us, they dont get the ball. In this current double no10 formation, balls are getting fed to the 10's early, which they're then moving forward with for the wing backs to overlap or to attack right though the middle. This is bread and butter stuff for McAtee.
