they'd better repeat some of those shows - mind you, folk can listen on Sounds.

The recent ones on eating certain nuts and flax seeds was interesting - basically even with the salt, eat those nuts people.

I'm allergic to them so happy to give them a miss

Weird isn't it.

Research continues to show that eating a diet of lots of different basic components; not overly processed, in moderation and maintaining a reasonable level of exercise, yields good health.

Who have guessed.

Where as common sense says taking a walk along hilly terrain in 40 degrees isn't a good idea

I get its easy to be facetious about this sort of thing, it was more interesting about what the actual benefits are and why, over just eat things in moderation - esp. if you are looking at countering specific aliments.

Then again this is WW, the expertise on here is more than you'd find over a lifetime spent in the Bodleian.

Indeed.

But he got lost on what should have been a fairly short walk.

Additional factor at play.

The same "aliments" often brought on as a result of poor diet in the first place.

As usual you just want to be a pretentious cock.

Yeah - not sure that'd help your health much

Ate a small chocolate with traces in

Didn't know obvs

My missus stabbing me in the thigh with an EpiPen is not an endearing imagine

I've been on that island in less warm temps

It's hilly and steep

You just don't wander up there in 40 degree heat

It is absolutely frightening. My eldest has a peanut allergy and it is not something I ever want to repeat again when he had a tiny amount by accident.

Your ma & da didn’t give you enough peanut butter as a wain

Wouldn't have worked

Since a kid I've hated the smell of peanuts

Maybe my body's way of saying fuck off

Had an allergy test that took a tiny sample of blood then analysed what I'm allergic to

It just lists everything and then rates it with a score

Cats and dogs were reasonably high up

Gold was higher, so had to ditch the medallion

Peanuts were off the fucking roof

Haha

That's wild.

Yes I doubt it would have worked.

Is it just ingesting them or can if affect you if they're in the air?

Just digest

I wouldn't go on a plane and tell everyone else they can't eat them

Give me enough booze and I'll see it through

Bang on.

How can anyone think its can be possibly healthy to starve your body off all it's vital nutrients for extended periods of time?

Really don't know how these fad pushers get away with it.

I think it helps those who are overweight lose some pounds by eating up some of their fat reserves. Or something, I just need to can the ale and my body would be a temple! 😆

He was ace because he always did stuff on himself, and he was an excellent communicator

He caught my attention when he ingested a tapeworm embryo and  let it live inside him for a few weeks to show what happens. Fucking bonkers

Back in 2018 I got diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. I was working away a lot, living in hotels, eating the wrong things at the wrong time and generally not looking after myself. The accepted opinion from within the NHS is that once you are confirmed to be be over a certain blood sugar level you are diabetic, that's for life and you need to control it with diet and exercise if you're lucky, and gradually you'll get to the stage where you need drugs like Metformin to control it. The dealer specialist Practice nurse offered me the drugs straight away and gave me a photocopy of some Sunday supplement pull out. She had never heard of the book, I thought that was strange as it was her job.

Having watched his program not that long before ( it was a repeat from a couple of years before) I refused the drugs, spent a tenner on the book, and followed his 8 week blood sugar diet. Went back 3 months later for a follow up and my bloods had gone back to normal level, and I've manged to keep it bay ever since.

A good video on it.

It works for some people yes of course.

But there is absolutely no substitute for a balanced diet with a calorie deficit if required.

When I say all these fads are bullshit, I don't mean they don't work, I mean that they are all just different ways to get to the same point and the only point where you lose weight. That is calorie deficit.

For me I'm not sure why you'd want to starve yourself and feel like shite for the best part of a day or drink juice for your meals or enter ketosis or eat 500 cals over 34 different meals of one kale leaf etc etc.

Just count the cals you put in. Then count the ones you burn. If you're in negative then you are losing weight.

Add that to a good balance of carbs, proteins and good fats, plenty of water and your good to go. Lower your carbs a wee bit if you want to go extra hard of course.

Fasting works, why wouldn't it. To me it seems like absolute hell and totally unnecessary, all for something that's really not that good for you.

Yep. Not hard to control what you eat and the exercise you take. Subtle changes can make a big difference.

Bit harsh, but then again I think you are being overly dismissive of the point and the programmes he made.

It's not just people on poor diets that he was looking into but how certain things can help. Maybe listen to some of them?
