athywhite1958 Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 Looks like the DVLA are having a major push on clamping untaxed vehicles, loads around Athy the last few days, one near me, serves the freeloading fuckers right Quote
Whitestar Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 Am i right thinking that you can't tax a vehicle that hasn't got MOT valid from the time the tax runs out?? Eg, both tax & MOT run out 01/09/24 but you tax it say 20th Aug, that's a no isn't it??? Quote
athywhite1958 Posted September 25, 2024 Author Posted September 25, 2024 I know you can't insure a car without MOT and tax and you can't tax a car without MOT Quote
Whitestar Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 Its just around this time last year i wanted to buy my old works van off the organisation when it got replaced, id had it from new and always treated it with respect, it had 12 months tax & MOT, of course the tw*ts went and got rid of it behind my back. Coz I'm a bit sad i keep looking on DVLA website to see its tax status and it has been taxed up to sept25 but the MOT is still expired 1/09/24 How??? Quote

IE if you tax a car to start on 1st Oct now, how many would have a MOT valid until 30th sept 2025 ? You simply need a valid MOT for the date the tax starts, not necessarily the day you physically renew it. (you couldnt tax a car to start 1st oct if your MOT ran out this Friday, but you could if your MOT ran out next Friday). Quote
DazBob Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 Aye, you just need to have a valid MOT, regardless of its length. Quote
Dimron Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 I knew there was going to be an upside to knocking around in a 50 year old car 🙂 Quote
