Thought I saw last night flight data that Assad's plane had been shot down and some claims from Rebel groups that they'd done it.

Russia say he's turned up in Moscow now, but as far as I've seen there's no photos or the like of him since.

The most likely explanation is that it was Russian deception

The transponder will have been switched off to cause confusion, and meanwhile Assad was probably on another flight

Except for the ones in the Far East, who aren't sat on millions of barrels of oil and gas per day

What's your point, as it seems totally nonsensical?

Syria has lots of oil, as does Iraq etc etc.

Meanwhile "stable" ones with lots of oil, also go round twatting each other, often by proxy.

Like one or two others, you do seem to struggle to differentiate between observable reality, and an ideological view, and one that not only prevents you from acknowledging it, but then enables you to make bizarre, snide and totally irrelevant comments.

Maybe you need to check with Sir Kier and question why he's in the UAE, and why he can't deal with HTS.

You know, with them being sat on millions of barrels of oil.

Pretty sure his point is, they squabble precisely because of the millions of barrels of oil.

Perhaps he's also thinking of Indonesia which has the largest Muslim population in then world.

Stop talking nonsense 😉

Muslims will always keep fighting each other. They won’t change . They’re all the same, all 1.9 billion of them.

Backwards to the core & stuck in the 1500s.

Thank fuck we live in a country of forward thinking Christian’s who are morally superior to the Muslim barbarians.

We’ve never done anything barbaric…. Ever

Difference being we've learned from the past.

Keeping up with the pointed comments I see. It's as if you're making some level of justification of their actions.

Meanwhile they carry on, despite your moral outrage at criticism of their behaviour.

The oil situation- no doubt it plays a part- but again, they've been at it for many hundreds of years, well before the discovery of the black gold beneath their feet.

Interesting that Germany have immediately halted immigration applications.

They've never done anything barbaric. Ever.

If it is then he's wrong

No doubt that the world over the fight for resources is a big driver of conflict, but some of the most oil-rich majority Muslim countries are also the most stable majority Muslim countries

Geography also has a very significant role to play

But it can't be denied that much of the violence is ethnoreligious in nature and that a big factor is homogeniety, with countries where a very high proportion of the population are followers of one sect of Islam more likely to have a higher degree of stability i.e. Indonesia, Morocco, Saudi Arabia all with 90% of the Muslim population following Sunni Islam, and in the case of the former two the figure being as high as 99%

More bollocks.

Research Jemaah Islamiyah for a start. What would yours and Casino's excuse be for their activities.

Not the far East but have a look at what Islamist terrorist groups in Nigeria, Somali, Congo, Mali, Burkina Faso etc. have been up to. No oil there unless of course you apologists know better?

The usual glib response along the lines of your classic "you just don't like brown skin" nonsense.

I wonder if you are able to identify the common denominator in most of the major upheaval/war/trouble in the world is at the moment? Boris thinks it's oil.

Who do you mean by ‘we’ve‘ ? Asking for a friend.

Moral outrage 🤣 calm down now.

”Meanwhile they carry on”

”Making a justification for their actions”

”They’ve been at it for hundreds of years “

Thanks for proving my point with your continued, & constant sweeping generalisations.

I’ll try & make it again. You can’t put 1.9 billion in the same box. It’s entertaining watching you try though.

Entertaining?

I suppose thats one word for it

Not the one i would choose, mind

Lots of people don't realise this, but they've 225 million Muslims there, yet I go to Bali which is 87% Hindu and they're lovely people.

Yeah that’s my point. The ones with large quantities for oil and gas tend to be the most violent and volatile. It’s almost like powers with a vested interest in other peoples resources might think about destabilising it for their own ill gains. I mean surely not, but you know. Maybe.

For a start this HTS have been registered as a wing of Al Qaeda and thus a terrorist group. Not sanctioned though…. Because if they were sanctioned, ours, America’s, canadas, etc’s governments wouldn’t be able to give them weapons and money to oust Assad and his army.

And when we/they swoop in to seize and steal (sorry, protect) their (sorry, our) ‘interests’ those same rebels will be killing soldiers with the same guns they’ve gifted them. It’ll go to shit as it always does and we’ll go “fuckin backwards them muslims” as they continue to fight the fight we started for them.

No oil in Nigeria ? Now there’s a claim 😂

Interestingly more oil has been discovered off Gaza for those wandering about some of Israel’s other motives in the area.

You’ve pretty much lost the argument when you start accusing anyone who disagrees with you of being a ‘sympathiser or apologist’ for extremism. Which both TMJ & Bolty have done already.

HTS are grim. Can’t see them changing anytime soon.

But Syrians are right to be happy at Assad’s downfall. Some of the stories coming out his prisons are brutal.

Israel all over it already. Not even giving them a few days to settle.

The barbarians.

Aye, initially that was what I heard.

But now they’ve gone well beyond just chemical weapons facilities

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cqx808q7lrno.amp

Lots of criticism that they’ve damaged Syria’s capacity to secure a peaceful transition
