I feel like Blatter would've been savvy enough to run it by the likes of CONCACAF first

when you say "run it by concacaf" do you not mean "grease their palms" like Sepp used to do with Jack Warner

Only the most wealthy fans in the world will be at this world cup supporting their team. Doesnt scream fun to me.  If England get to the final, i'd genuinely rather be in england than at the game

  • If it wasn't for my lads I wouldn't want us anywhere near the premier league.

That's another way of putting it

Fifa World Cup: Uefa to boycott tournament if Gianni Infa...

Uefa will boycott Fifa's tournaments if investment proposals from world football's governing body president Gianni Infantino go through.

Let the games begin

Surely that means Infantino has to go......although, I'm sure he'll soon be replaced by another crook

This is the weird thing for me.

Aren't FIFA's top brass already raking it in?

If they sell some of this on, aren't they potentially doing themselves out of dosh in the long term.

Anyway, I'd advocated for some time that we, together with other European nations should fuck them off.

Let Donald have his "biennial world cup" in America, with loads of also ran nations competing with his USA team for the title of champions.

Each game lasting 4 and a half hours, with 17 substitutes, adverts, refreshments breaks, singers and dodgy island owners all putting in an appearance.

FIFA is raking it in. But the top brass, while very highly paid, could be replaced. This is about the current top brass making an absolute fortune to cash in as much as possible while they're in charge.

Can see UEFA posturing and then getting a chunk of money as concession and then caving in

makes you think

CONCACAF aren't having it either

I think most of us on here thought replacing Blatter with this bloke might make things even worse.

It has. He needs fucking off and quickly.

Sir Stanley Rous. A proper one although the anti apartheid lot finally did for him.

The amount of power and cash swimming about in FIFA now, I very much doubt we will see a good guy in role again for a very long time.

While the money is still swilling around greasing palms the stupid commercialisation will keep coming.

They’ll never appoint a guy who stagnates revenues now.

On paper, yes.

Given the corruption, surely infantino et al will have been raking in kick backs.

Flogging it reduces those opportunities over the long term.

Anyhow, UEFA and CONCACAF have effectively killed the plan now.

It's like FIFA are trying their best to fuck things up - splitting the game into quarters to increase revenue during the last WC was just the start, no way they're stopping doing that now. A half hour, half time show, that'll be here to stay as well.

Increasing to 64 teams, the possibility of a WC "Shield" for those who go out in the group stages at the next WC, all purely to rinse every single cent they can out of the game.

Whilst UEFA suggest they'll boycott, they'll soon be endorsing it, once they are given the greenlight to stuff their noses further into the trough

And Infantino has now pulled the plug on it.

Fifa World Cup plans: Gianni Infantino scraps private inv...

Football's world governing body abandons plans to sell off stakes in its major competitions after widespread opposition to president Gianni Infantino's proposal.

he's promised Morocco the next world cup final if they back him

He already had. There was uproar in Spain last month because he'd promised the final would be at the Bernabeu but latterly told the Moroccans they could have it at their new Hassan II stadium in El Mansouria if he received their support.

Bent as fuck.

They are all in it for themselves on the FIFA gravy train.

Infantino stays and UEFA claim their boycott still stands

I get the feeling UEFA might blink first

Mexico are publicly backing Infantino now. Nations will tow the line one by one for the cash and UEFA will cave in

I wonder who he could have been with recently, to learn such brazen corruption and contempt for the integrity of the sport
