This does get some folk riled up. Think Joe Root should be on there ahead of Chloe Kelly.

Rory for me , Lando drove the fastest car and still only just won. Littler depends if you class darts as a sport. Not sure why 2 lionesses get nominated for winning Euros when rugger lot won the World Cup.

Although I think Rory deserves it would love Ellie Kildunne to win it.

‘Personality’

Fuck me what a load of bollocks

Looking through the list of past winners

Pre 2012 yeah I’ll have it. Decent winners

Since then

2012 - Bradley Wiggins - have it you cunts I’m the best there ever has been

2019 - Ben Stokes - big fuck off personality. No argument

All other years are bollocks. Apart from a sneaking admiration for Andy Murray and his self-deprecation

Rory for me. Telling Muricans to fuck off  wins it for me hands down imo. Personality and then shoving it up their big fat hoops

A Lioness will win it though despite having the personality of summat found under a stone in the garden

If anyone should win it, it should be Kevin Sinfield. Remarkable human, and would fit with the "personality' tag

Rory will win it though, remarkable achievement, not many grand slam winners.

Agree re Gabby @bolty58

Usually linked to sporting achievement for the year rather being a decent sort.

They are talking about changing the Honours system so he can be knighted. Not been long enough since he got last medal as rules currently stand. Can not see him not getting one this time.

Womens rugby World Cup for me.

Why waste any time pondering it? We all know it will be decided on political considerations and not the best sportsperson.

Just let the shows presenter Gabby have the trophy. A breath of fresh air. Delightful woman.

Isn't it the case that you can't get another honour for the same thing?

So if he got an OBE or whatever for charity work, he later can't be knighted for charity work and so they would have to think up another category

Not sure I read a report that said you can not be ‘upgraded’  for three years and he is currently on two

Is it not a public vote these days - I'm not so sure the general public would be taking voting based on anything political. It's more of a popularity contest these days really, and given that only gays and kids vote for this sort of thing, I'd be surprised if Chloe Kelly didn't win it (if based on sporting achievement, then McIlroy without a doubt)

For what it's worth, I think it's a waste of time and an old/outdated award ceremony that should probably be dropped now. I net the viewing figures these days aren't even 1/10 of what they were in at it's peak (although there was pretty much fuck all else on to watch back then)

I bet if you asked 95% of the population to name the last 5 winners they wouldn't have a clue

Don't think I've ever watched it as have no interest in it. Its one of those things where you think just tell us who won and save 3 hours or whatever of giving everyone there a pat on the back

Aye, for me too. But they were at home and big favourites to win it. The ladies who won the euros didn't have any of that. But it was "only a euro" not a WC. Anyway both were fantastic efforts.

Steve Davis

Can’t really go for White Roses as they are subsidised by RFU for full time contracts when opposition are amateur

You're right of course. It won't be at the level of the RFU but it's about time the other federations up their game.

The US women football team had a lot of advantages for a long time. That gap has almost disappeared.

Tbf not all the opponents are amateur.

The whole event was feel good and the attitude of the players was very much let’s win this, but also let’s really fucking enjoy it. Imagine any other event where a player with an injury was still joining in. In terms of the overall event Canada were knocked out and people were blaming the ref. They gave a brilliant answer.

The drumming video shows why I would love her to win the whole thing, but IMO Rory’s grand slam trumps everyone else. Just hope they win something, honestly think they deserve it.

If you believe that the public votes are actually counted to produce the result, you probably believe that 'Set A and set B' are genuine on The Chase.
