The team just looks like it had no chemistry at all. Playing passes the other wasn't expecting, over hitting it, looking worried and way too passive. Looked like a first pre season game. Sch

  • So poor that today. Limp, weak, no intent, no drive or desire to score. A touch too many, poor decision making and absolutely wank final ball. Not a shot on goal, fuck all created, slow

Pretty sure other teams are on the same boat. It’s up to you to fire them up. We haven’t played well in any of those 4 games.

Exactly. So your opinion is no more valid or weird than mine.

Whose idea are you talking about that said "club staff and players couldn't have done things differently"?

Yours. As pointed out in 2 different threads now

Please point out where I said "club staff and players couldn't have done things differently", or anything of the sort?

Are we just having a dip, like all other teams?

They now have us as 3rd favourites behind Lincoln but not sure why they think we'd finish above Bradford

because they struggle pronouncing "D", obviously.

(it'll cost them as the season wears on, mark my worts)

Stating the obvious but I think SS needs to look at his tactics and what he needs in this transfer window we at least need to get into play offs or it's 1 and a half seasons he's wasted getting out of this division he took over when we were 6th and we have not moved on, most of the players are his now no excuses

Please point out were I said the staff and players "couldn't have done anything different" in any of the games we've not won.

Bringing our games back to this thread, and the current "dip": although we had in improvement in form for a while, we haven't gone on a good, long run of successive wins.

Largely due to poor away form.

In reality, there is little evidence of us going on that sort of run, and we need to, to have any chance of direct promotion.

Could change of course. Could.

Think you've missed any point of my messages. Will leave it there then

Best way.

You accused me of saying something I didn't. No wonder you're leaving it there.

You forgot to mention the officials, shocking again.

You cannot blame officials for us dropping points , no shots on target is nothing to do with refs, it is us being poor .

I thought the ref was ok , maybe the burstow " goal " was dodgy , but no Wanderers players seemed to protest, so I'm guessing he blew his whistle before the header went in

Based on the manager's piss poor excuse for recent results, I hope he'll be playing the reserves in the cup against Port Vale.

He's got a week to rest and reset now. Can't be any excuses if results are shite in the next game.

Feels like a critical time coming up. If Stevenage win their games in hand and beat us then we'd be fucked. Need to be more fired up and getting points on the road. I'd take 5 from the next 9.

Who are the reserves?

We can write the reactions to the Vale game tonight - an entertaining game, good to get some confidence back, Dalby, Forss, Cissoko and McAtee did well, Simons is on a different level and they've all given the manager something to think about for Wigan away.  When's the draw?  Anyone at home.

Don't want to forget we had a perfectly legal goal chalked off after about 20 minutes, that counts and we probably go on to win 3 or 4-0

You can't seriously think this team has 4 goals in it in 1 game?  The early goal would have been very handy and was probably deserved, fair enough.  But there seems to be a huge over exaggeration of how many goals are in this team.  See the last 4 times we've scored first for evidence, we don't go for more and put anyone to the sword, we retreat and there's every chance we concede an equaliser in the 2nd half on current form.

Yes, I know why we have wide men but this aspect of our game is just not working at the moment. But this is a team and management failure rather than a winger failure. Just look at the corner count in our last few home games. A high count with little to no reward. This obsession we have in getting the ball to the wide men in every single attack is predictable and teams are more than capable dealing with it.

Still undefeated this year though 🙄

No spelling mistakes, I’m impressed

But we do have the quality

OK, I'll rephrase it, because we do have some quality players - the 2 wingers, a couple of midfielders, Conway, Tutu, the CBs.

What we don't have is a strikerforce worthy of the name (those that start games), you've been a fan even longer than me and can you recall a set of strikers less likely to force the keeper into a save?  And I'm including relegated teams never mind one that's going for promotion.

We are fine box to box to an extent, but if ACD doesn't pull a rabbit out of the hat, we won't score nearly enough.  We'd love to be playing against our strikers, they aren't a threat.

Not a shot on goal, fuck all created, slow passing and not a through ball in sight.

We look a million miles away from the clinical outfits that have turned up to the Reebok in seasons past and smashed and grabbed us and gone on to win promotion.

Zero killer instinct and even less desire to make something happen.

We are absolutely miles off it.

There's a bloody lot to fix.

Don't worry, it's just a dip everyone goes through...

We've been abysmally overrated as an attacking force all season really, based almost entirely off things ACD has done at his best (and to a much, much lesser extent, Burstow and Gale).

The strength of the current group is in defence, especially now TSL isn't there to throw one in. If there's any hope for this season it lies within that unit.

Who was is it said we could be a better side without ACD?

No chance, but we're in danger of burning him out well before the business end of the season.

The lad needs a new role or a shit load more support.

It's now standard that most times he gets the ball he draws three men to him. His teammates need to be more aware and get around him, then he needs to look up a little more and quickly shift it, so a couple of those markers are taken out of the game. Too often today he was crowded but had little option other than going back to Christie or occasionally Sheehan

I think we might be.

Either play him on the left or don't play him. He has become very one-dimensional and relatively easy to defend against.

The failure to exploit the space created when teams double up on ACD is possibly up there with my biggest bug bears. And an indication that so many of them are lacking in football intelligence. It’s proper U10s stuff when all plans revolve around ‘give it to Duberry’.

ACD himself also needs to learn when to shift the ball on once defenders are committed rather than running down blind alleys and surrendering possession.

With regards SS comments re squad being tired after so many games. Morley, McAtee , Forester Forss and JDC did not even make the bench. (I think 🤔

All 4 are decent players at this level. If the others who have been playing and these 5 are not good enough for squad may as well get rid.
