My apologies.  That was here.

That's a penalty all day long on Kenny at the end of the first half. Refs are bottle jobs

Also Dalby, for as good as he is in the box, is not the man you want running through 1 on 1

Didn't see any of the game, was on the sesh but what a great day to be a Bolton fan with all those other teams losing. Presume Sheehan and Johnston were shit as usual?

Just checked it was 4-0. Had it in my head it was 5! We must’ve had a goal disallowed

December 2005, which is a generation ago, depressingly

Sheehan played well and benefitted from the pitch and the pace up front, but gave a stupid FK away right on the edge of our box which led to their goal. Also noticed his dead balls were hit with a bit more pace rather than the floaty corners and FKs he’s been serving up. Not as pacy as Demps or Cyrus but a big improvement.
Johnston was ok although he kept slipping (needs to rethink his stud choice?) which let them in a few times but redeemed himself by smashing in a goal from 5 yards when everyone expected him to balloon it out of the ground 😀

Bottom line is that small errors mean little when you score 5 and could have had more.

Obviously.

Well, apart from Sheehan's pass for the opener and Johnston scoring 😉

Would love a statto to compile his 10 goals total distance from goal. :) reckon he’s just about outside the area.

Tbf Kenny pulls the defender back before that. Even SJM mentioned it during the game.

Nobody could grumble at yesterday but dalby and Kenny could do with a few  coaching sessions with sjm.  Just seem to snatch at couple of chances when a calmer head would have put them away.

I was saying to Yoof watching the game that SJM would be brilliant in this team. Hard working but a brilliant finisher.

Just noticed on the first goal, Sheehan was looking to play a quick free kick to the left wing and an Exeter player virtually blocked him by failing to retreat.  So Sheehan actually took a couple of seconds to reassess and played that much simpler pass down the right for Kenny to cross.  Simple goal, that doesn't happen if Exeter don't helpfully slow the taking of the free kick.

The 4th goal is a superb move from start to finish.  Great little touch from Kenny, with his left foot too.

Last 10 games

W6 D4 L0.

Goals for 18, against 9.

We've played 6 away and 4 at home.

Ticking along nicely.

As you say ticking along nicely in a "finishing 3rd" kind of way.  It shows the size of the task when our good run has only lengthened the gap between us and 2nd.  The 3 consecutive draws were the nail in the coffin for finishing 2nd, not because they were terrible results in isolation but because we've been in catch up mode since September, so even 22 points from 10 games isn't enough.

Its all about securing 3rd place now and having as few injuries/suspensions as possible for the play offs.

Over the 10 games we have 4 points less than Lincoln. It is really impressive what they are doing. Cardiff and Lincoln both averaging over 2 points a game.

Kenny’s movement was great. Feigned the run, then pretended he wasn’t interested, then signalled to Sheehan and span the defender. A fairly simple pass over the top from Sheehan but nice bit of spin to keep it from skipping out of play.

Simple, effective.

Could tell after Wigan when he'd not even made the bench.

Seems a decent lad and hasn't the let boo boys get him down.

His past few appearances have been bang on. Looks like he's really worked hard and got his head down and received some proper coaching.

Good on the lad.

If Gale did pick up a knock after his goal, then this mon could well be starting next time.

Also need to remember that his wife gave birth only a few weeks ago.

We've all been there, and he might be short of a bit of sleep, and distracted.

Good luck to him.

No wonder he's always smiling, he's out of the house! :D
