that was the reason I thought the referendum should have been weighted... the younger voters who were going to have to live with the decision for possibly the remainder of their active lives and careers should have had more "sway" over the older ones... if it meant a person half my age should have had more clout then so be it

You could equally say, those with more life experience should have a more heavily weighted vote.

No one got a vote originally, then when one was granted as to whether to stay in, I doubt anyone would have made a similar claim.

All votes are, and should always, be equal.

Preposterous suggestion. So if, for example, there was a referendum on pension rises, votes should be weighted towards 'owd thick racists' as some of these woke "ist" screechers oft refer to?

Might be something in that- goes back to a Traffism elsewhere, about unemployed folk having to do some sort of public work in order to receive benefits. Maybe chuck in a voting card as part of the deal.

Not sure this concept will ever fly.

This is why I was and remain anti-referendums... the electorate cannot ever be briefed enough and rely on their own prejudices and whatever misinformation they are presented with on sides of buses etc. We have a democracy where we elect representatives to represent our various constituencies and they receive very good salaries to debate and focus on major legislative issues on our behalf.

During this one-off Brexit situation, I felt the ones most affected by nature of their age and having longer futures should have had a louder voice.

I am certainly not proposing this sort of thing across the board; as I said, we live in a Parliamentary single, equal vote Democracy not some sort of anarchic hotch potch.
