  • won our first ever World Cup game, a proud day for me after enduring the dark ages of Canadian men's football during the 90s and 2000s. Easily the best team we have ever fielded.

Decent save from South Africa's keeper that. Very much reminiscent of some of his performances for Mamelodi Sundowns in recent years 😁

This will be absolutely killing Ronaldo

was hoping that freekick went in for back to back, 5 goals in 2 with Jordan next.

Suspect he won't see a blade of grass against them?

I’m trying to keep my appraisal in check due to opposition played, but the qualities he’s developed in his latter years have turned him into a completely different player, but still someone who can do it on the world stage.

I listened to Pep’s review of him - it’s a fantastic insight. His in-game intelligence is off the scale.

It means he can spend 80% of the time strolling about! But that change in tempo when he does get involved is proving (so far) to be impossible to deal with.

I’ve been reticent to put him above Pele and Maradona, but I think it’s more than well deserved.

He’s the GOAT

not sure, if Jordan beat Algeria and somehow beat Argentina they will top the group due to 6 points each but having the h2h, so seeing as no other player as scored yet other than Messi, they may play him, which they shouldn't need tbh.

The GOAT. It's not even a debate

I believe it is. What I will concede however is that Messi shows most of the qualities of being an honest broker.

The superior skills of Maradona (in my opinion) were dulled a little by him being a cheating bastard.

Suspect that you may be correct.

Disagree but it's all about opinions.

I also enjoyed seeing Red Rag Nick severely pissed off.

This Iraq team love turning back and restarting passing at the back when they've got a chance to get forward or get a cross in.

Won't be ruling out Norway, cracking game that against a Senegal side I wouldn't have been ruling out pre tournament.

I'll stick with France though 😄

I'm concerned we all got a bit carried away because of 20 good minutes v Croatia D

I fucking hate var

Stadium's needs emptying and mass protests asap

The games absolutely fucked

WANK Fest over RR

Watching that BBC doc about the 2006 World Cup, it was noticeable seeing the England players who are all now long, long retired playing against Ronaldo. Walcott was 17 and he retired three years ago.

He's taken a lot of shit over the past week, but nobody will ever score in more World Cups (until FIFA make it biannual).

Really don't get the stick he gets.

Blokes 41 ffs.

He's been easily in the top 3 or 4 players of all time.

Messi still having it but he's got a couple or 3 years on him. At 40ish that's a massive difference.

Bloke's a self obsessed bellend that's why he gets grief. Never forget the sulk he had when one of his Real Madrid team mates scored rather than him. Prick.
