  • won our first ever World Cup game, a proud day for me after enduring the dark ages of Canadian men's football during the 90s and 2000s. Easily the best team we have ever fielded.

Decent save from South Africa's keeper that. Very much reminiscent of some of his performances for Mamelodi Sundowns in recent years 😁

Can’t think where I heard it. Possibly on a podcast but it was a discussion about so many teams being allowed into the finals. Argument for it was that it becomes a ‘festival’ of football and these lower rated teams just go for it with some ‘no fear’ football. Got to agree with it imo. Not seeing any boring matches so far

Absolutely- I’m not getting this lame World Cup that some are seeing.

I think some are struggling to differentiate between the chaos, poor decision making and low expectation pre World Cup, to what has actually been on offer so far.

Of course it could change in the 2nd and 3rd round of matches, but I’m not sure how anyone can be critical of the football on offer so far.

It’s been really entertaining.

Looks like the half empty stadia predictions were premature too.

An interesting article here- NiC will love it.

All about the dosh; fuck fans.

There have been games with loads of empty seats, and there are plenty of articles about it, it's just that it doesn't matter to FIFA.

Some nice goals in this Switzerland v Bosnia match

Congratulations mate. Enjoy it while it lasts.

As no one told Australia the game as moved on there players are so slow USA will run them into the ground

Football peaked, we're on the way back down.

We can all sing when we've fuck all to do.

If Brazil are moving up gears as it seems, they can sing it whilst they're heading homeward to think again.

Be a shame to lose Hanley to the competition though. A gift that just keeps on giving.

Another reason that the 3rd place rule is nonsense..

Clarke can essentially just play for two draws or narrow losses & they still qualify

Anti football at it’s finest

& Turkey could beat the US 10-0 and they’d still be out.

Makes no sense

Any team that still has him lumbering around isnt going to keep anybody decent out. They've some better players now than they've had for a couple of decades but all in the same area of the pitch.

Clarke must have something against Shankland, by far their most likely scorer out of the forwards he had at his disposal yet he turned to all the others when he needed a goal.

they are miles off the quality of Brazil teams of the past, have been for a while

would not fear them

France are the team to beat

People see things differently.

A 'made up country' rofl If Papa Doc and Baby Doc were still around they'd have the Ton Ton Macoute remove your katangas for less than saying that.

I saw an accomplished team cruising and deciding to put the cue back in the rack at half time. Unsurprising that Ancelotti would opt for protection and preservation after the Raphinha injury not long before HT. I hope they score three again in their next game or preferably six.

Disagree and disagree.

Find it all rather pathetic. World's gone fucking soft.

The sight of grown men running to a referee pleading for a red card. "Please sir, he covered his mouth".

Fucking pansies.

Of course you did, you've got money on them.

They came up lacking against a decent team like Morocco and will do again in the knockouts.

I look forward to being proven right within a week or two.
