Ann Widdecombe

Sorry if this has been mentioned elsewhere, RIP Ms Widdecombe, a character of politics, no 78 year old woman deserves to suffer the horrendous death she apparently suffered, I met her when she was prison minister and she was very staff orientated but also campaigned for prisoners to be treated fairly

It has been mentioned elsewhere and shown that people’s warped political prejudices outweigh common decency.

It's not a study though - it's an essay.

There's no dataset, no statistical modeling, no tested inputs and no methodology.

And it's very much one voice. And even people in his own institution are rebutting him.

It's just been picked up and sensationalised. Like these things almost always are.

Fucking hell. Do you take any notice of the zeitgeist beyond the end of your street?

Bubbling up everywhere. US, France, Germany to name but a few.

Still, you rely on AI and the likes of Starmer with his 'laser focus' on his own intolerance.

The weirdest thing is how some people (including I suspect, some people of here) are actively hoping for it. Like it would be a good thing.

My mind boggles.

Who? Name names.

Seems that a large number of you are very reliant upon AI. I'll use history as my measuring stick.

Not really. I'm not a luddite - so if I want a quick reference point for something - I'll use it. And explain that I've used it.

I wouldn't be that stupid but nice try. Is 5 years your limit? What about the next decade or two? Still confident?

How would you define civil war? Would what almost happened in Suffolk (unless it's just yet another 'far right' conspiracy beat up by the 'establishment') be classed as an opening salvo or have the opening salvo's already been and gone?

Your second paragraph doesn't make any sense.

Yes I'd also confidently predict that there won't be a civil war within the next 20 years in the UK.

Sadly there's a good chance one or both of us won't be about to settle.

So the offer is there if you'd like put a wager on it happening in the next 5 years. Just let me know.

That's an extremely patronising thing to say. Does that make me a thick old leftist in your book?

You namely.

Feel free to correct me if that's not the case.

And why do you keep going on about AI?

And which moment of political history are you using as your benchmark that tells you there will be a civil war in the UK in the next 5 years?

Happy to read more about it and then come back when I've got a considered opinion for you. But I can't think of any. Unrest (almost certainly) race riots (quite possibly). Actual civil war. Vanishingly small.

well I watched the video below first, all 39 minutes

then got AI to sum up what the expert says Civil War actually looks like, rather than typing it out myself

and which based on simulation, is 18.50% possible he says, so unlikely to start with

then the next two experts came on and said it was even more unlikely

I'm with them that thinks we will see more civil unrest, maybe worse then we've seen already

but I don't see civil war, based on the expert defintion, happening any time soon

are you just being dramatic and saying "war" when you really mean "unrest"?

what did you rely on to decide it will happen?

I'm guessing not expert opinion are examples of what civil war looks like both in theory and reality

if history is your measuring stick, you must be comparing this cival wars like Sudan, Syria or Yugoslavia

so go on

watch this, and tell us, in your own words - civil war, when, how, what does it look like

its GB News this, so nothing to be suspicious about

Ey up, Athy has posted - there must be an advert break on GBNews.

I gave an opinion. You don't agree. That's fine. We are all entitled to our opinions.

Yes but you go further by trying to belittle people and become personal making stuff up, just like your post I am rep, lying to, for your information I have never watched GB News, I am not thick nor am I a racist

I saw a medical film jobby on YouTube the other day.

An American chap, using studies etc.

One of the causes of insulin intolerance, blood sugar etc was watching too much news!

Makes sense.

Much prefer it now, as specific information and science underpins a lot of stuff.

Much of it you can't really expect media to cover as the breadth of topics is so huge.

Of course you have to check for charlatans etc, and take some stuff with a pinch of salt, but for the most part, far more interesting.

good point, it's feeling very 1640s all over again.

I blame social media.

Cracked the case yet? Was she murdered by an immigrant, like you were hoping?

If there is a civil war (which there won't be in our lifetime) it'll be started by an American, not by the people of Britain

I'll take that as a 'no' then. How disappointing for you.

Mate, seriously, don’t bother. As Bill Murray said in a modified Mark Twain quote.

“It’s hard to win an argument with a smart person but it’s damn near impossible to win an argument with a stupid person.”

From 2012, quite a trio, you, Dutch and Big Sharps -

To be fair, I think a few folk had already worked out that you are/were Firthy, the posting style and attention seeking is exactly the same, so it wasn't too difficult.

They are a Troll. Simple as that. Why does he/she/it do it? 🤷‍♂️

Maybe a clue here.

Psychological research suggests that trolling behavior is often linked to traits like sadism, aggression, and narcissism. Trolls often act out of boredom, a desire for attention, or the temporary lack of inhibition that online anonymity provides.

We used to call them Nutters. Nutters is an acceptable term under free speech guidelines.

Oh no, not a post from 14 years ago! You daft old sausage.

No it doesn't, there may be a correlation between increased screen time and watching specific content with certain health conditions, but watching news doesn't cause it.

I like your sticktoitiveness. Perhaps I didn't make myself clear. Not a fucking chance.

Strangely, I don't think of you as old.

You'll keep trying it seems.

I'll just find you trying.
