July 17Jul 17 Is it not really just the case that we've continued getting knocked out by the first big team we've facedWe did well against Germany in 2020 (although it could be argued we hit them at the right time) but in general it just seems no matter who's been in charge we've followed the same pattern with easier drawsGranted, it's an improvement on getting knocked out by Iceland and failing to qualify in 2008
July 17Jul 17 DNA and a style of play is definitely something we don't really have. But in this instance for me, TT had the opportunity to go for the jugular and didn't. It wasn't really anything to do with the players. He made a very poor decision tactically and that's what flipped the game.

Carbon copy of what Southgate did in the Euro final against Italy in a way.
July 17Jul 17 Foden and Palmer would've been out of position or sat on the bench watching Bellingham be far better than them. TAA would've been helpful to have but the lack of backup right back didn't hinder us at crunch time.Simply put Tuchel went too defensive too early and failed to change it when Argentina equalised. Making the correct decisions in those moments are why he's one of the highest paid international managers around and he fucked it up.Can't fault the players for this it's all on Tuchel

I don't think theres a real argument for leaving them at home. With the way TT set up in those last 30 mins, they wouldnt have had any impact in that moment. Saka/Rashford on the bench were the pacey players that were needed.

Gibbs-White was the one for me that I was more surprised about. As you say, Palmer and Foden have done nothing for 95% of the season. There was no reason that the players he had at his disposal couldn't have won that game on Wednesday.

Sack him now.Wharton was the quick passing midfielder we've missed the whole tournament. But Henderson has vibes or something so it's ok..

It was like watching Nuneaton Town if they go 1 nil up at Man City away in the cup. He just gave up any pretence of trying to play and loaded the defence to try to last for 40+ mins. But I think the squad selection may have played a part here as he clearly didn't like the look of his back up midfield and attacking options. If he had Foden, Palmer, Wharton in his squad would he have made better subs?Either way it's all on Tuchel. Needs sacking immediately

Pep and Klopp would obviously be a good shout but it looks like we are stuck with him for the next tournament.Moving away from the managers and how kids are coached over here I read this comment last night and I agree with it massively“Until we learn in academy football we should be teaching technical players to be great athletes and not athletes to be great footballers we will always fall short,If you look at Spain and Argentina, where are the big strong athletes who can run and run and run”At a broad level I agree with this. We prioritise size over skill throughout the whole youth system. However, at the very top level i.e. national squad, our squad was more than a match for Argentina, and used well should have won.Agree we should look at Spain and France for how they've created such a wide pool of elite players
July 18Jul 18 I’m tuning out of this appraisal now.I get it, it’s massive, it’s England and everybody has the right to express an opinion. But it’s fucking draining listening to everybody saying the same thing…… and yes that same thing may have some validation..But it’s like everytime someone says it, it’s like they are putting themselves on some kind of pedestal in expressing their anger and frustration more than the person before.Talk Sport is the best example. It was actually a decent listen up to the semi final defeat… now it’s just a screeching nonsense of the next speaker outdoing the previous speaker.. saying the same thing..Get a bit of Ibiza Cafe Del Mar chill out on. July 18Jul 18 I’d go for the Don.X (formerly Twitter)Acyn (@Acyn) on XTrump: I know about sports and I know about a little bit about soccer, but I watched Messi and he was well guarded… And all of a sudden he's standing on the right. Do you understand what I'm talking a

July 18Jul 18 What disappointed me the most was that immediately he made the first substitution it became obvious it was a mistake yet instead of changing it and adding some pace he did nothing but make it worse. He had more than enough time to improve it but either couldn’t see it or didn’t want to and just ended up allowing us to fall behind then panicking with Rashford and Toney. Either way, he cost us that and should go.

July 18Jul 18 I have word, horse's mouth, ITK etc. that England are lining up Scottish born Irish man Owen Coyle to replace Tuchel.

July 18Jul 18 Its too bad Trump would rather speedrun the breakdown of the current world order, because he would have been ace as a pundit for the world cup. Id have him over Neville, Richards etc.
July 19Jul 19 He's going down the route of we aren't as good as other nations now.Really pisses me off that narrative. Two euro finals and two world cup semis says we are bang in the mixer with the world's elite. We need to start believing how good we actually are. That mentality lost the game the other night. Played like a bunch of no mark league 1 benders who should just be happy to be there.Pathetic.
