they have played games in turkey in the last 12 months

Better not do that.

I have week off work so I'm going to take the opportunity to explore Bulgaria. So basiclly cheapest flight I can find to anywhere in Bulgaria, out the previous Saturday back the saturday after. If they ended up playing in turkey i'd be unhappy to say the least [-X

Not finding much, best I can find is out on the wednesday and back on saturday, in and out of Sofia at ??240.

Plus it's a long journey on the train.

When England played against Bulgaria in 1999, we stayed in Sunny Beach, which was good enough, and got the train from Burgas to Sofia (and back!!!). It was 7 hours each way but felt like 14 hours - Bulgarian trains are'nt the best (though at Sofia station some locals have set up proper homes in redundant carriages) and there's not a lot to look at other than flat farmland.

Some of the lads who stayed in Sunny Beach got taxis - which is always an option for those thinking of flying to Sofia, which was dirt cheap from memory.

Hi! I'm a Bulgarian journalist and I was trying to keep informed for your team so I logged on to your forum. It was quite useful, thank you! Please, if I can help you out with something, like travelling, etc., please let me know!

I don't believe you are going to play at Sofia, because on the same date the other two Sofia teams are playing thier home games. So, it's more likely to be again in Burgas. Also, Burgas is one cool place, so it's worth visiting  :D !

OK, thanks for the attention!

Please, feel free to contact me!

Mimi Blanco. Is that not Miami White under a foreign sounding name.

Lucian the Greek called PLOVDIV "the biggest and most beautiful of all towns" in Thrace; he might have added "and Bulgaria", for the country's second-largest city (with a population of 360,000) is one of its most attractive and vibrant centres, with arguably more to recommend it than Sofia, which the proud locals tend to regard with some disdain. Certainly, there's plenty to see: the old town embodies Plovdiv's long and varied history ??? Thracian fortifications utilized by Macedonian masons, overlaid with Byzantine walls, and by great timber-framed mansions erected during the Bulgarian renaissance, looking down on the Ottoman mosques and artisans' dwellings of the lower town. But Plovdiv isn't merely a parade of antiquities: the city's arts festivals and trade fairs rival Sofia's in number, and its restaurants and promenade compare very favourably with those of the capital.

and could try these if youre adventurous

There's two airline companies that fly to Bourgas, though mainly from Germany. Though it is relatively cheap midweek at this time of the year to get to the continent.

However I'm not far from Luton and Stansted - the hub of the no thrills airlines. Not sure what its like from Manchester/Liverpool.

Try www.condor.de or www.ltu.com

hope we get to play in Bourgas, i'm gonna stay for a week [-o<

does anybody know the price of rail or coach travel from sofia to burgas

George I heard that a taxi would not cost you that much - and you may not be alone - so teaming up with a few others would make it cost effective. Alternatively - you could look to hire a car - again I believe not expensive. If you drove 3/4 others from Sofia to Bourgas I think you could expect a free match ticket, and endless beers on your return to Sofia.

A scheduled flight to Bourgas will cost an arm and a leg.

As much as it pains me to say it, going with the club might be the only real option.

Why don't you hang fire a moment. The company I'm booking with has the option of flying into any airport, so the intention is to get to the nearest one to the venue.

I will post details as I get them.

from what i can see there is one train from Sofia to Burgas on the morning of the match.

It takes 7 hours 9 minutes and the price in first class is 28.80 levs or ??10.03....for a return

there's a coach from Bourgas at 0030 which gets to Sofia at 0530/0600.

Hi guys!

Coaches in Bulgaria are far better option than train :D I can assure you!

Why don't you check out planes form Manchester to Sofia? I've heard this is an option. I think than the plane from London to Sofia was about 250 euros!

OK, gotta go, Maria
