New arrival. Old supporter. Been reading some of the recent stuff with great interest - esp. the 72-73 stuff. Brought back great memories. Old Mod / Lever End skin / Burnden paddocker. Been in Oz since '88 but seen the lads play between 1 and 4 games a season for 15 of the years I've been away. Last game the 1-0 victory over Arse Jan 2005. For once didn't stay wi't'old man but gave the Whites Hotel a test ride. It'll do for me.

Born and bred Tonge Moor. Also strong Rangers affiliations like Colin.

One question. Is there uproar over there regarding those w*nkers at the News Of The World? Not a big Sven fan myself but 6 of us all booked into Germany with 5 match England packages hoping to see us lift another World Cup after following the Rugby campaign down here. Those b*stards should be done for treason. I hope some f*cker is organising a boycott of their lousy rag. Rant over.

Cheers mate. Loved all of the Jams tracks in truth. Scooter scene down here had a few tribute nights with local bands doing the Who; Kinks etc. Looking forward to a Jam night.

Back to football - good mate of mine down here a big Palace fan. Shi*ting himself as he believes Sam will be the new England manager and Dowie to the Reebok. They don't want to lose him.

Town Called Malice for me :D

Cheers Northy. A Town Called Malice runs a close second for me. Classic.

What's the story with the Pie Eaters. Obviously, an insignificance when I emigrated but there was a time (note - great James Brown and Gene Chandler track!) when Bowtoners liking RL supported them and Wigginers liking football followed us. Sensed a change in the early 80's when a lot of 'em became Scum Reds or Hubcap Reds. Some rivalry building up with us eh? ('scuse my ignorance but it takes a while to catch up on this sort of sh*t down here)[/b]

Always liked Strange Town myself but Eton Rifles by a f??cking mile

I e-mailed the News of the World last week and voiced my opinions

It's shocking that the manager of the national team should be entrapped so close to the world cup. It's even worse that some sections of the English public are now supporting the newspaper.

And even worse is the news that the FA have been negotiating with Sven over the last 12 months for the termination of his contract after the world cup

Why shouldn't he be looking for a new club

What he said about the players in true

And I've no doubt that the corruption claims are also true

His only crime is being a simpleton and making these revelations to an NOTW reporter and the cost of the sting, I'm sure they'd have taken most people in

Posted

Nice one WTH. good to hear someone's sticking it to the NOTW. Interesting to see what happens if he brings the World Cup home. I'd lay odds they'd be calling for him to be knighted. Twats.

In similar vein, thanks to whoever it was who put me on to the Guardian link. That was a top article on Sam managing England. Don't want him to go but England has to come before club (sorry lads, I know that will pi*s a lot of you off. When you live away from the place you soon realise what an incredible place England is. Nothing else matters).

Incredible place? England? - Things have gone seriously downhill since 88,only the footy and the pub any good now. This place will be another asian ghetto in 10 years, you're missing fcuk all.

Best Jam track?

Down in the tube station at midnight.

I think back in 78 the tube stations were actually locked up at 10pm :D

Wecome Bolty

Top choice - best Jam song ever.

I first felt a fist, and then a kick

I could now smell their breath

They smelt of pubs and Wormwood Scrubs

And too many right wing meetings

My life swam around me

It took a look and drowned me in its own existence

The smell of brown leather

It blended in with the weather

It filled my eyes, ears, nose and mouth

It blocked all my senses

Couldn't see, hear, speak any longer

Brixton - how long ago? Let me know if you're visiting again. Lot of whites down here tha knows. Most of you will be aware the BWFC Down Under Supporters Club? Carling Cup Final had a private room do for 150 in a local pub. 90 of us and 60 smoggies. Come again and we'll have you out on a Paradise Lost SC pi*s up. Great banter with loads of Leeds; MU; Palace; Millwall; Orient; Preston (pussy!); Leicester (smirk);Rangers (ace blokes); MC etc. (www.plsc.asn.au a picture of the ugly git writing this).

Burnden Bogs - your sentiments exactly what I felt when I slung mi hook in '88. Leaving BWFC behind the bitterest pill to swallow (see what I did there!). Up until last July, I worked for a large US Corp. and travelled extensively (Americas / SE Asia etc.) and it's only when you do this that you realise the unbelievable influence our little dot on the globe has had and continues to exert. Apart from the ragheads who hate everybody, all that BS about hating the English is actually respect and a little jealousy. Had a great chat with a heavy duty corporate high flyer in Las Vegas last January (called in at the Reebok to see us beat Arse 1-0 on the way back!) . He said summat like this "The world owes England big time. You gave us the pre-eminent system of government; the universal language; most of the worlds major sports; commerce and finance blah, blah, blah"

It's only when you leave that you realise how important the place is.

Happy Shop Pig - assume you are referring to the Sydney 'race riots'? What a load of garbage. Fact is loads of Lebo kids growing up in a free society over here (topless beaches all that kind of stuff) are mixed up to f*ck. Their parents are one step up from ignorant savages and try to bring them up as strict muslims. They dress like the Aussie (& yank) kids,

get out on the pi*s/drugs etc but still see fit to call western girls 'whores','sluts' etc when they are on the beach wearing a bikini. This was brewing for a while. They only want to fight when they outnumber the opposition 5 to 1 so, this time, they got a little of their own back.

Bolty,I i know what your'e saying, and for a long long time England was the best country in the world (imo) but things are changing very fast,to me the place doesn't feel ours anymore, and if you dare to show a whiff of patriotism you are now deemed as racist, sadly.

Posted

bolty58 I'm glad to hear you are against the 'News of the World'.

You've been 'All Around the World', 'Its Too Bad' that you can't get to more matches because when you are 'In The Crowd' it's like 'To Be Someone'.

You are older now and 'Away From The Numbers' but 'When You're Young' I bet you were one of the 'Saturdays Kids' thinking 'Here Comes The Weekend'

Things have changed a bit since you left England, this is the 'Modern World' after all and 'In The Street Today' they have 'All Mod Cons' but they are 'Absolute Beginners' and 'Thick As Thieves'

Good luck to you mate, you have made a fresh 'Start' and found yourself in a 'Strange Town'

Posted

Burnden Bogs - if flying the St. Georges flag; singing Jerusalem at the top of your lungs and following England at every opportunity is racist then I must be the biggest going (s'funny I have a lot of West Indian, Italian, Indian, Irish etc. friends - I mustn't have read the instructions right).

What a load of old b*llocks. An English National Party. That's what we need. Someone batting for Englands rights for a change.
