If you've got the balls, an Egg Money card with 1% cashback is good as long as you pay the full balance every month.

Diect Debits come with rules. If you feel you have been charged for something which isn't your fault then get in touch with your bank plus the beneficiaries of the DDs. Let them sort out who cocked up, the bank by paying without being asked or the beneficiary for asking and not being entitled. Or are you really on about standing orders which are a different kettle of fish . . . different to which particular kettle of fish; I don't know though!
