I'm with Barclays who aren't much cop, however their internet banking is ok and I make about ??30 a quarter holding my wages in a higher interest account and transfering money over as necessary. If you've got the balls, an Egg Money card with 1% cashback is good as long as you pay the full balance every month.

Diect Debits come with rules. If you feel you have been charged for something which isn't your fault then get in touch with your bank plus the beneficiaries of the DDs. Let them sort out who cocked up, the bank by paying without being asked or the beneficiary for asking and not being entitled.

Or are you really on about standing orders which are a different kettle of fish . . . different to which particular kettle of fish; I don't know though!

They are all much of a muchness, it depends what you want from your current account. I presume you just want a piggy bank and some HMV vouchers or something.

some free money to get me started would be nice

if you are so immature that you can not choose an account yourself and instead rely on the opnions of a bunch of piss heads on t'internet.

i think you are not mature enough to have a current account, stick with them little pigs natwest used to give away.

arthur daley does a liquid gold account with a free greyhound i think.
