Dunn and Upson.

How many games a season do you think we will get out of those two sick notes?

Good point. But you never know, with the amount of unjuries they have at Birmingham, something must be going wrong behind the scenes...

Upson to replace bruno

Gera to replace jj

Pennant coz hes class

Ellington coz allardyce could bring him back to his best

Melchiot coz hes free and i think hes better than hunt and o'brien put together

Dunn's class but would be a risk with all his injuries

Don't understand all this talk about Ellington - he hasn't done much at WBA this year and the last thing we want to do is splash money on another profligate forward.

If Sam wants someone with Prem exeperience I can't see anyone who is good enough at a price we would pay.

Profligate: there's a word you don't see on here very often.

I don't particularly think we need a striker anyway

Diouf fit, Davies, Borgetti and Vaz Te is fine for next season in my book

need more pace in the forward line, so one lightning quick striker will do nicely thankyou.

we have one in the reserves

if hes not good enough and not going to play in the 1st team then was a complete waste of time bringing him here in the first place

i agree we could manage without signing another striker as long as who we have got perform and stay fully fit

We'd have to change tactics to accommodate that...which I can't see happening

Vaz Te has pace, I'd rather he was used as an impact sub away / started at home than being forced down the queue behind some average Joe like Ellington

Just my opinion mind, Sam seems to acknowledge that we are lacking something up front

maybe robinson as cover for left back? looks alreet and better than playin a fookin striker there ](*,)

i agree with you top boy

what makes you think robinson would be happy as 'cover'

we're not chelsea

When we were in for Borgetti, Allardyce was talking about playing the 2 of them together. Im sure he told Borgetti this aswell, but when it came down to it he wouldn't...

Maybe he could persuade a few more. Mind you, he can't even persuade himself that Bolton's the right place for him so how's he supposed to sell it whole heartedly to others anymore. :-k

I would've taken Pennant but after we've found out what he likes to do with mobile phones, he'd be better stayin away. [-X

We're also being linked with the ex-Munich ??unt that is Nicky Butt:

Birmingham midfielder could be summer target

FORMER United midfielder Nicky Butt and Cardiff striker Cameron Jerome are among the names being touted for moves to Bolton as boss Sam Allardyce builds a squad for next season.

Allardyce wants defenders, midfielders and strikers as he looks for six new players to turn his side into European challengers again.

Huddersfield-born Jerome has been linked with a move back to the North. The 19-year-old scored 20 times for Cardiff last season.

Allardyce has always been an admirer of Gorton-born Butt, who has returned to Newcastle at the end of his loan spell at Birmingham, who will not be pursuing a deal.

Middlesbrough's George Boateng becomes a free agent this summer, though Boro's UEFA Cup success could tempt the Dutchman to stay at the Riverside.

Progress

Allardyce has a habit of plucking unknown talent from Europe and Burkina Faso international defender Mahamadou Kere certainly falls into that category.

Currently playing for Belgian club Charleroi, Wanderers are said to have tracked Kere's progress.

Aston Villa's Steve Davis and midfielder Ivan de la Pena from Espanyol are other names linked with a move to the Reebok.

However, it seems Allardyce has failed to land USA defender Cory Gibbs from Feyenoord.

Bolton, Middlesbrough and Reading were monitoring Gibbs, who is poised to join Charlton. In the last couple of seasons, Allardyce has failed to finalise his squad until the last few days of pre-season - but wants to do so more quickly this time.

He said: "My objective is to bring in the majority of these players before the World Cup begins next month. I have scoured the globe to bring in the right quality we need.

"It is a difficult and delicate process but one that I will relish as we aim to continue our progress."

:-k I'd take all these above apart from the munich scum =;

david thompson has been released from wigan.

i always thought of him as a decent little player, wonders what up with him?

He used to be a cracking player, but I think his injuries at Blackburn may have got the better of him.

What about players from clubs who have failed to get promotion. Andrew Johnson, Nugent from Preston, Kennedy from wolves for some width maybe.......

fookin kennedy!!!!! ](*,)

Kennedy is a shocking shout, I also don't believe Nugent is ready yet and would be a mistake. I also reckon Andy Johnson has peaked already and could be on a downhill spiral - let the likes of Reading waste money on these players.

Upson - snap your hands off, Pennant and Jarosik the same. Melchiot always seemed good to me but I can't claim knowledge of this year's form.

Gera is a good footballer, but I wouldn't have him and Nakata. Arca is mid-table Prem class too, but I don't think he's for us.

I think Jarosik is a near identical player to Gary Speed, and could be a long term replacement.

As has been said before in this thread Jarosik belongs to Chelsea!

Irrelevant. Smertin belonged to Chelski, and he left due to his lack of opportunities, especially with Ballack supposedly on his way.

Melchiot

Not good enough for Bolton [-X and perhaps worse than Nicky Hunt #-o

Nobody couldbe worse than Nicky Hunt surely? :-k
