i agreed with a comment in yesterdays MEN from a Manc journalist that Anelka is one of 5 or 6 world class strikers in the Premier League.

If he puts in maximum effort he will be too good for most defences.

I have no doubt Borgetti would've finished our top scorer had he played regularly, and therefore would've eclipsed Stelios' 12 goals, although Stelios required a player such as Davies to score so many.

I love the first goal in that sequence where he basically bullies the Leicester defender in to the goal.

Watching that video is so painful. I still can't decide whether he was the best striker in the world for a few months, or whether he just kept getting lucky.

 

I'm on 8-12 for Anelka, perhaps more if we do anything in the cups.

The brace [maybe even hat-trick] against Watford will ease any nerves. Sam will make sure that he gives every chance to the lad to maximise his goal tally i.e. penalties, Okocha range free kicks, formation. . . Sam is acutely aware that the whole world will judge him 'no good with money' if this does not come off and his dream job with one of football's elite is on the line with this one transfer!!!

 

I appreciate this is optimistic but let me ask a couple of questions to those who think I'm wildly overly so.

24+ is wildy optimistic considering he has done that just once in his ten-year career, and has only broken 15 once in his other 9 seasons.

So, as an optimist, I'd say the law of averages dictates he's due a 25 goal season!

I've assumed you mean in all competitions so 13-18,if you meant Prem only then 8-12

13-18 for me. Closer to 15 is what I think he'll end up with. He can run and shoot. We just havent had that since Ricketts lost his mind.

for ??8m, anthing less than 1 in every 3 games would be a failure in my eyes.
