Vaz Te

Vaz te played well and scored for portugal u21s tonight.

If we'd signed Nani, people would complain that we don't need another Vaz Te.

He looked lively and energetic. Made an assist, and scored a decent header, albeit with the help of some lacklustre marking.

He's still more than capable of making a mark as far as I'm concerned, although I wouldn't send him on loan again. Hopefully Sammy has got more sense than to choose players that are of David Thompsons' calibre, ahead of a livewire youngster such as our Portuguese starlet.

His decision making isn't the best, but he's always shown the odd positive signs as far as I'm concerned. He was responsible for a despicable goal at our place against Villa last season though.

It makes much more sense to bring him on as a sub at away matches, rather than at home where he gets booed before hes even touched the ball. Atleast when its away he's less likely to hear it. Don't think it does much to help his confidence really.

The people that do that are not Fans, they are just morons. Say what you want about players after the match in the boozer, but don't shout all this shit in earshot of the player, what good does it do? That goes for Nicky Hunt as well.

well said zozzy

Agreed, if we'd just signed Vaz Te people would be frothing themselves.

There comes a time when he' needs to start producing something worthwhile. 3 years ago I was looking forward to what he would be doing in 12 months time, now Im wondering if his shots will ever finish closer to the goal than the corner flag ! I cant boo him, im too far away, but I will at the end of the season if he's still slicing the ball like a clueless clown.

taken from Sky Sports Website:

Ricardo Vaz Te has confessed that he would be open to a return to Portugal with Sporting, although the Bolton striker stressed there has been no contact from the Lisbon club as yet.

Vaz Te spent a spell on loan with Hull City last season and it appears as though his career at The Reebok Stadium has come to a crossroads after making 87 of his 110 appearances from the substitutes' bench.

The striker has been with his country's Under 21 side at the European Championship in Holland, and playing alongside some of Sporting's starlets has seemingly caused the forward's mind to wander.

Even if there has been no dialogue between the clubs so far, Vaz Te admits he would be tempted by any potential move to Estadio Jose Alvalade.

"I am contracted to Bolton for three more years," Vaz Te told Maisfutebol.

"The coach is Sammy Lee, who I get on with well, but it is still early to know if he will let me go or keep me with the club.

"I always had the objective to play in the Portuguese league. My preferred club would be Sporting.

"It is a team that promotes youth and already has Yannick Djalo, Miguel Veloso and Joao Moutinho under Paulo Bento. I would like to play for Sporting.

"I do not know of anything concrete, nor do I want to speak on the subject, but it would be something that pleases me."

typical filler that

Journo asks: would you like to play for sporting if they tried signing you

Vaz: Perhaps it depends on wht happens at bolton but if they don't want to keep me then i'd love to.

Fcuk me, he has 3 more seasons left.

How many threads are there going to be on here over the next 3 years saying that he needs more experience, loan him out, he will come good in time, give him a chance etc etc ..............

Give the lad a break

Let him go.

Most players get better with age, this guy seems to have gone worse each season. Sure, we can all blame the lack of confidence, or the fact that he needs a run in the team, but for me, any player who can not stay on his feet, or hits the corner flag with every shot is not going to make it. He didn't even make the Hull first XI on his loan spell.

Really sad as he wa sa real prospect, but we can't dwell.

Might get acouple of million for him, let him go.

Is that mongal logic you have going on there? If Vaz Te is as bad as you reckon (which he isn't) then how the f?ck would you expect we "might" get a couple of million for him?

I forgot to mention, Samhater - folk say what they mean on here

Balls of steel required on here matey :good:

I preffer people to be honest and say what they think instead of stabbing you in the back like at TW.

Since when does a player have to be good to attract an inflated fee?

We did very well offloading Ricketts and Gunllaugsson in the past when they were useless lumps. At least Vaz Te has 'potential'.

And yes, I had championed Vaz Te for years. Give him a chance etc.

I cheered when he scored against my hoe town team Oldham, and again in Guimaraes.

I wanted him to succeed so much.

But after a season of seeing him on his backside, I can't keep saying, he is only young etc.

If he wa simproving, I would say keep with him, but sadly, he has gone backwards over the last 16 months

You seem to be talking an awful lot of bollocks....

But then with a name like Samhater i'm not surprised.

Get out of town, Ricketts & Arnie were miles better than Ricardo. Ricketts had an amazing first half to the PL & Arnie was on fire before he left.

I've seen enough potential in Vaz Te that suggests he needs to be given more chances, but you're in cloud cuckoo-land if you think he's better than those two.

There's no point in comparing them. Ricketts and Gunnlaugsson were miles more experienced players when they came to the club.

We are talking about bringing a young 20 yo forward through from the Academy. Sometimes he will look the article like he did when he got a few full games at the end of 2005/6 season. Sometimes he will fall over or make a mistake and get the never has beens on his back.

I think he has the talent to succeed and will be getting behind him.

Where did I say he was as good as, or better than them?

Someone said I was talking crap for suggesting we would get ?2m for him.

My point was that some pretty awful players do go for large fees.

The point was that you were saying Ricketts and Arnar the Bummer were shite and we got decent money for both. Neither were useless lumps, as isn't Vaz Te. But i suppose not knowing a great deal about the game of football doesn't stop people from talking bollocks about it.

for me he's had his chance and he's not made an impact

the writing was on the wall when he went on loan to hull

if he's happy to sit on the bench then there is no reason not to keep him, but if he wants out, i'd let him go

I know I know but perhaps give him another chance under a new manager?

I appreciated SA a hell of a lot but one of his faults was his blooding of youngsters. From his touchline behaviour, you always got the impression he was saying "make a mistake and I'll break yer legs".

Whereas a Redknapp might be a bit more "go out and enjoy it" mentality.

But if he doesn't make it after this fresh chance, break his legs.

Ricketts had played less game at Walsall before we signed him than Vaz te has now, and he must have only been early 20's.

And, to the fat lads credit, he had the ability to stay stood up when someone went near him.
