I know there are a few lads from Leigh who post on here

Has the new Wetherpoons pub opened yet?

Fancy giving it a try on Saturday night. The official website takes weeks to update and doesn't inspire any confidence

Yes its open and according to form its not bad either.

Go in the Avenue next door and ask them to turn the rugby off if you want a row. Decent pub with cheap ale and good music. But Maggie Taits notrights frequent it and they're cuckoo. :D

Saturday is a good night if the town is busy, there's kids pubs if your into drinking ?4 bottles and perving 18 year old slappers, and more established pubs for those who want a good drink with decent music. The Litten Tree is OK if its busy, as is the George and the Goose.

Try The Waterside next to the cut late on for older but classier wimmin, good music, and a good atmosphere.

Dont go over the bridge if you own all your own teeth. And dont go to BJ's unless you want harrassing by 50 year old divorcees with 6 kids.

Barbs is full of idiots.

Went in the first Saturday it opened. Was ok, packed out, food wasn't too bad. That Copperburg Pear cider they sell in there is pretty good though. :drinks:

ROLL ON AUGUST!! A month's boozing, I'm so excited I might wee.

Apparently Wetherspoon's doesn't let you in with trainers on, be it 9pm on a Saturday or 10am on a weekday, which is when a lot of my drinking will be done. Probably a bad sign that my Mam's been and likes it though. Personally I'm glad its been built. Another pub could be just the kick up the arse the town needs.

One of the aforementioned Maggie Tate's notrights (I resent that!!) got barred for life on its first night. Chris Metcalfe, we salute you.

I went in the Leigh Wetherpsoons on the first day it opened with one of my owd drinking partners from town about 3 weeks ago or was it 4 weeks I'm not sure. Anyway I remember it was a monday morning. There was a nice smell of new leather when you walked in.

I had a 'Traditional English' which was tasty but the hash browns were slightly undercooked/not crispy enough. The staff were very pleasant and friendly which is a nice change from the Bolton one recently. We then went into the beer garden at the back which is small but very pleasant. It was blazing hot weather for 11.15am The smokers were not allowed inside even before the ban had started which was only right I think, with all the new leather furniture.

When I came out there was a 'bell-ringing' fella giving it the "Oh Yeh Oh Yeh" I took a picture of him and then went to work.
