New Inter Top

That's how Umbro should have done the England shirt.

I bet the Italians will be screwing and throwing their dummmies out of the pram over that design. "Mamma it's an English flag!"

Cracking looking top though.

The Italian army have objected to this shirt FACT.

They want to know why someone has put a red cross on their flag. FACT.

Loads of Italien clubs have the cross of St George in their badge.

was juventus not originally based on notts county????

I believe it was, they used to play in pink I think, when they saw the Notts County strip they liked it so much that they changed over to black and white strips

As does the Barcelona badge

Apparently Bayern Munich saw the Doncaster Rovers kit and liked it so much that they copied it!

personally i do not like this shirt, for me the italian shirts and spurs shirts are always the best in design terms, in my opinion the reebok shirt designers are bobbins and if the shirts were designed better we would sell considerably more.

Milan coat of arms:

George is also the patron saint of Catalonia

Edited by not_even_irish

The cross of St George forms part of the municipal flag of Milan.

It's also part of the flag of other cities including Barcelona.

Fack me that's uncanny. Just previewed and not even irish beat me to it!

I though that George was patron saint of programme collecting and massage parlours

The Inter shirt in question has been produced to mark their centenary.

It was first worn in the late 20s when Fascist rule forced the club to change their name to something a little less cosmopolitan. They briefly reverted to the name Societa Sportiva Ambrosiana in honour of St Ambrose, the patron saint of Milan.

Saint George is the patron saint of Arag?n, Canada, Catalonia, England, Ethiopia, Georgia, Greece, Montenegro, Portugal, Serbia, Russia, and Palestine, as well as the cities of Beirut, Ljubljana, Freiburg and Moscow, as well as a wide range of professions, organisations and disease sufferers.

Good god that's awful :nea:

He is also apparently the patron saint of skin disease sufferers and syphilitic people

I think they were given the black and white shirts as a gift during a friendly competition back in the 20s or something and used them as a kit.

Oh, and btw, I haven't got a bite in me today boys, so don't bother trying.

An Englishman who was playing for them at the time sent back home for a new kit. His mate from Nottingham sent back a set of County shirts. Early 1900s, I think.

According to one of Milans top boys I met last time I was over there, the St Georges cross is a part of the emblem of many Italian clubs who were founded by Englishmen. In the case of Milan (according to him), it is included in their badge because thousands of Milanese fought in the crusades. Enzo might know whether this is reet?

No idea about the crusades, but the bit about Italian clubs being founded by Englishmen is certainly true. It's the reason Milan are called Milan and not Milano. Same goes for Genoa (and not Genova).

And why it is Athletic Bilbao and not Athletico. Also managers in Spain are referred to as "Misters" for the same reason.

I thought it was ATLETIC Bilbao? Anyway they were formed by Sunderland supporters which is why they play in red and white stripes and black shorts.

Real Madrid play in all-white in honour of BWFC. Little known fact.
