I have consistently backed Nolan, but he is seriously out of form and low on confidence his miss just shows how lacking in confidence he is, he needs taking out of the firing line and freshening up.

Booing is self defeating.....but if you think Nolan is putting the effort in, you are deluding yourself. Instead of treating the players (as it isn't just Nolan) like children, and nursing them through this, remember how much these guys get paid, their cars that line the car park on match days, and the pressure they are under is not comparable to the rest of us...the performance of Nolan (who is our captain and therefore the leader) has been unacceptable...simple as

If stelios, Garderner, Vaz Te and Campo can be given rest on the bench then so can Nolan. Maybe a rest will do him good.

At the end of the day Kev's not been good now for approx 12 months. He?s severely lacking in confidence, everybody is on his back (sorry sue they really are) and he's struggling, big time!

Kev needs to be taken out of the firing line for a while, it just isn't happening for him, and in truth hasn't been for a long time.

If Lee doesn't take action now a vocal minority of fans WILL turn on Nobby although he's clearly doing his best. IMO his best just isn't good enough for the level we now expect our club to perform at.

Anybody remember the same situation developing in the '80's with Julian Darby under Phil Neal? For anybody who doesn't, Neal insisted on playing Darby through a long, long run of poor form for the lad which eventually resulted in the crowd on Jule's back, a confidence crisis for him, abuse from so called fans in the street while he was out with his family and his eventual departure from the club.

The Sunday Mirror had Nolan down as MOM yesterday, I dont know how, yesterday he missed from 1 yard out and should have squared ball for davies instead of hitting side netting, as usually happens when you are low on confidence you make scoring look difficult and make the wrong decisions at key points in games, a rest will do Nolan the world of good.

I totally agree Nolan has to be rested. And it seems, in general, the majority of fans have bitten their lips at games in respect for his past achievements and loyalty to the club.

 

The problem is LSL, not Nolan. Nolan's confidence is gone. If we had a poll for who thinks Kev should be dropped, it would be more than 95% "Yes", yet with so many attacking midfield options, why does Lee keep playing him? While he has played and coached for England, it's extremely poor judgement by the manager. I wonder what his coaches are telling him.

Not true. Spoke to Kevin last night. He's gutted to be playing out of position and says he's not fitting in wide right. He just wants to play back in centre midfield in the role that Allardyce had him playing in.

He'd step down if it was for the better of the team - but until then, he's doing his best to recapture his form.

He says he's not the only one out of form, yet the fans seem to have chosen him for the special treatment and its not doing his confidence any good at all - in fact its putting even more pressure on him.

He said that he was gutted last week top be booed off by the home fans - worse still when Diouf was cheered off after having a similarly inept game.

He has a point.

His shot cleared off the line he couldn't do any more all he could do was stab at it, it was actually great reactions from the derby defender to get the 2 blocks in.

 

His 'shot' into the side netting was a poor effort but he was tryting to pullt it back along the goal line.

 

After watching the game again i thought he played fairly well yesterday and with better luck could've had 2 goals.

 

Nolan has been poor by his own high standards he set 2 seasons ago, but if what rich says is true and knobbers were booing him yesterday when he came over to applaud the supporters then it beggars belief as to what these 'supporters' want out of him.

what does my head in is he got dropped by allardyce a while back and he came back into the team a new player. Its obvious hes struggling so why hasnt he been dropped for a couple of games his own good and also for the teams good?

I had Nolans biggest fan club sat behind me at the match yesterday. The minute the PA man said his name
