Weren't there cut price tickets for todays game from the home UEFA game?

 

Wonder how many of todays attendance were the ones who took advantage of that offer.

We can talk about this crowd issue til the cows come home. The facts are that people appear to be deserting us in droves (I know, I know - w@nkstain JCL's who we could do without anyway. Certainly not hard core loyal; they are still attending).

 

The club needs to analyse this and arrive at the reason why. We all have our ideas and I, for one, am fooking sure that the geographical location of the stadium is a major minus point. Garty and his crew need to come up with initiatives to get bums on seats. A winning team would be a good start.

Going off at a slight tangent, but certainly important in the great never-ending attendance debate. A lot of people bleat on about how much it costs for a ST and the price comparison with buying the tickets over the season, here's my two-penneth - and before you all start, I know the wages in London may be slightly higher and football is a bastard expensive hobby, without even taking this into account. For those who are unable to go to the matches because any personal or financial issues, non of the below is directed at you.

 

Now being based in 'norf' London, I know plenty who support Spurs and Arsenal. I knew that the lads I know with Spurs STs paid around the 700 mark, but I was absolutely staggered to hear today that two of my mates pay between 1,100 - 1,200 a year for their Arsenal STs. Admittedly that does include cup matches. I know it's not comparing like with like, as they have larger fanbases and catchment areas (wasn't there a waiting list of 14,000 for Spurs season tickets last season?), but f?ck me it makes you think how lucky we really are.

 

There is no price advantage in purchasing an ST with a lot of the large clubs, it's merely a means to secure your seat. As for those on here that moan about the comparative quality of the games on the pitch, it boils down to supporting the team. I don't believe you can describe yourself as a supporter if you fall by the wayside as soon as the club falls on slightly hard times. If you are going to bleat on about how you not wanting to support Bolton and how it seems to be everyone's else fault but yours, then perhaps you should question whether you really support them at all?

Correct - as are all German stadia and yet are well attended. To do with the mindset. That's what the Hermans are used to - we expect ours to at least be in the town which matches the clubs name. Not too much to ask is it?

it is now it's in horwich, i dunno what can be done but there seems to be so much apathy about BWFC by it's 'fans' at the moment.

Well, at least they've proved that the incentive to get free UEFA tickets by buying a 'boro ticket was bollox! They'll have to get their proverbial thinking caps on again and come up with a more attractive incentive to get the crowd back.

Load of crap again, just because some of us didn't renew our ST's this year for the first time in years (16 for me), we are now JCL's. I have found be speaking to fans that didn't renew, have followed us for years. I went today, meaning I have only missed Spurs match this season, and again what aload of shite on offer, Oh, I was in Munich as well, sat with the Munich fans who were a good bunch of lads, didn't buy a drink all match

Great point here, if these 17,000 are the "true loyal supporters", and fans like me are JCL's, didn't here much singing from you lot. Watching match of the day and going to away matches, atmopshere at ALL prem grounds is shite, apart from Portsmouth, which still has that old terraced stadium feel.....in the Alliance arena, I bet when the have terracing for league matches, the atmosphere is electric

Mick d is correct Blackburn have improved there style put some initiatives in place and are rewarded by not massive gates but better crowds

So I settled for a few pints of bitter in front of a log fire in'th Hole in Wall in Bowness inWindermere followed by a reet good leg of lamb.....thats what Sundays are for. Wont be there against UTD either but will probably go to OT to see em. More of a day out.

You might have lost interest and given up on home games,but i am almost certain that if the club had advertised the Boro game as ?10 for adult tickets the home section would have sold out.

The cold weather wouldn't have had anything to do with it.The tickets would have been sold during the week,it wouldn't have been a spur of the moment decision to go to the match.

If 24,919 turned up against Fulham with cheap tickets in February on a Sunday,there is no reason why they wouldn't against Boro in November.

Our season tickets are between ?595 and ?850 for adults. That's for the 19 home league matches. All Cup games are extra.

The club mustn't be bothered about the attendances. You would have thought that they would have pushed 1/2 season tickets big time. They should have thrown in the united game free for anyone who buys a 1/2 ST.

I expect you will get some on here contesting the above but personally I would agree with you.

 

There came a time for me when I sat down at the end of a season a few years ago and counted how many games I actually enjoyed and how many I didnt - and it was something like attended 17 home games and enjoyed 2. Then I realised that turning out for most home games was no longer for me.

 

I could go into reasons why I didnt enjoy the games but each and every issue has already been discussed to death on here and elsewhere.

Munich didn't hinder us today.Without Anelka and Diouf we wouldn't beat Boro no matter how much rest the team had.

I may be in a small minority but the Uefa Cup is bigger than the league to me.I would happily finish 17th and get to the Uefa Cup quarter final,rather than finish 11th but get knocked out in Belgrade.

 

The Aris game is crucial.If we don't win, it will be put us in a weak position to get through the group.With Liverpool away on the Sunday which we would lose 9 times out of 10 anyway, i would pick the strongest team we have against Aris.

 

There is a case for resting players in Belgrade when we have a winnable game against Wigan on the Sunday,but if Belgrade is a must win or mustn't lose i would pick the best team.

 

In 20 years time,if we haven't played in Europe again,i won't be pleased we picked a reserve team in Belgrade because we were saving players for a league game against fookin Wigan!

 

Todays poor gate was all about the tickets being too expensive.The ground won't be full against United at ?39 yet it was full against Grimsby when adults were allowed in for a fiver.The gates won't improve until the prices are dropped.10,000 empty seats today which would have brought in the club 100 grand if they'd sold them for a tenner each.And they would have been sold at that price.

 

I certainly expected us to win yesterday, regardless of Diouf and Anelka's absence. I fail to see how we can go to the Allianz Arena and get a 2-2 draw without Anelka and Diouf, then approach Boro at home saying that we are never going to win the game!

Lets be honest, we've been ragging abysmal at home this season & I can only imagine most just aren't interested in a trip to the Breezeblock and would rather stay at home on a freezing Sunday.

I think we are in a minority, apparently it's only JCL's who are the issue, and you become one by picking and choosing your matches, something which never happened before (note the irony). Remember when we went from having 8,000 max ST holders at Burnden, to doubling that in our first season at the Reebok, and attendances were high when we were struggling in our early years. Tired opinions like some of the above bore me. In fact in todays modern football, I'd like someone to tell me what a true and loyal fan is
