GMR report that  BWFC will not confirm nor deny that a deal for Nico has been done, these are indeed VERY DARK days

if it's for the reported 10 million, it's a disgrace!

and if its for 30m, its fantastic business by the club.

Sorry. My tolerance of idiots filter got turned off.

Right folks, enough is enough.

When the day arrives that Lady EG has to resort to using the word TWATS, you should all know you've gone too far.

Megson just been on he says and i quote "I'm unable to seperate the fact from the fiction" he's gone it is just a question of how much Ginger gets to reinvest i'll go for 2 million now wonder gates are down

As I've said before, we will only get what people are willing to offer. If ?10M is the top amount anybody offers, then that's what we'll get for him

When Eidur went I had this argument with one of the directors:

Me: Why only 4.5 mil ?

Him: It was the highest offer we recieved.

Me: How many offers did you recieve ?

Him: Just the one.

Me. How long before it was accepted.

Him: Immediately.

Despite receiving only the one offer, and other clubs being interested, they snatched the hands off from Chelsea. I hope they dont repeat this mistake.

Compare that to our chase of Johnson last year, Palace maximised the amount that they received, knowing that an higher offer would materialise.

If Anelka has a clause that allows him to go for ?x amount, they whoever draws up the contracts should be sacked.

i would hope they would reject 10m.

IMO 15 million no less with the 7M profit spent on players anything less would be a disgrace anyone heard any takeover gossip ??

But we don't have to sell.

He should only leave on BWFC terms

From what I can gather, & it may all be b?llshit, but it is BWFC & not the man himself looking for the money/move.

That can't be a reasonable conclusion.

From memory (as a Shareholder, so I receive the Annual Report & Accounts)

Our turnover is c?55m, of which ?9-?10m comes from gate receipts, so the income from falling gates is marginal esp in relation to the "?35m" TV money.

Megson Post Match today:

Bolton manager Gary Megson found himself having to deny transfer talk about Nicolas Anelka once again in the wake of his side?s 3-1 defeat at Sunderland on Saturday.

The Frenchman has been the subject of much rumour and speculation, with Chelsea reported to be leading the list of clubs chasing his signature when the January transfer window opens.

But Megson denied any approaches had been made for his striker, who has been one of the few consistencies in The Trotters? season to date.

"It's been going on for so long, and Nicolas is probably more used to it than most players in the country, I suppose,? said Megson after defeat at The Stadium of Light.

"But from my own point of view, it becomes normal, actually, because all it is is speculation.

"I would tell you if a club had actually come on to me, or if the chairman told me a club had come on to him.

"I would tell you because there is no point hiding the fact. But at the moment it just seems to be things that are in the papers and in the media that you have to cope with.

"But I think most people will be in the same boat."

Megson did admit however that any moves for Anelka would be likely factors in his own transfer market activities.

"It would probably affect what we have to do, but nobody at Bolton Wanderers wants Nicolas Anelka to go anywhere, and I mean nobody,? Megson reiterated.

"If Nic isn't of the same opinion, then we will have to deal with that as and when.

"But we are not at that point yet."

From what I can gather, & it may all be b?llshit, but it is BWFC & not the man himself looking for the money/move.

In which case, like Eidur, he'll go for a low market price - these big clubs can smell desperation a mile off.

right then....anelka is top quality.

however we are not building a team around him, so he does not fit into our style of play, especially away from home.

do we get full value for money from him ? away from home the answer is no. i do not do many away games so this opnion is based on peoples comments on here.

if we get offered ?15m for him and the money is put back into the team with 3 or 4 decent players in defence and midfield, would it be a disaster ? if the money is not spent on players there is no football reason to sell him.

what is our away record since he got here ?

would we be better away from home playing kev d up front 5 in midfield and 4 at the back ? we could nt be much worse could we ?

every player has a price and if you have a player of anelkas ability but who is only contributing when we are winning are we better off cashing in ?

i would prefer him to stay, but if we are faced with the position we are we need a team capable of picking up points at home and away not just relying on winning every home game.

our away form is not just down to anelka but we need to pick up points away form home, if the club is prepared to put real money in without selling him then lets see that happen, if not i think his departure is inevitable.

I thought we got decent money for Eidur. Chelsea need some credit for improving him into the player he turned out to be, also he was medically a gamble having had a serious ankle injury in his younger days at PSV.

same week we sold eidur wolves sold akinbiyi to leicester for ?5m

it was a shocking fee we got.

Having between 8 and 10k spare seats at the Reebok every other week could be forcing the club to sell to the first reasonable bid.

Fans can't have the best of both worlds. The comfort of watching Anelka play for Bolton from the pub doesn't encourage the player or the club to keep him here.

The attendances are disappointing and won't encourage any owner or board to invest but, no, I can't accept that it 'forces' the club to sell. Gate receipts are a small percentage of income, as others have pointed out.

As Ani says, there may be football reasons for selling him though.

But either way, the club should be demanding what he's worth on the current market. Otherwise there'll be less cash to service the debts, less cash to pay ED back, and ...... oh, yeah, .... less cash to re-invest in the playing squad.

The one thing that I haven't seen mentioned, and we can't know, is what's in his contract.

It might be that if a "big 4" club come in, he can go at a certain value eg ?10m

As ever, players are in charge.

Megson said yesterday something like "we were lackadaisical to start with"

IMO that is possibly the Anelka influence running through the team.
